The present invention relates to apparatus and methods of liquid purification and the subsequent production of useful by-products. A variety of liquids may be purified by the method and apparatus, including water and hydrocarbon mixtures/sludges. The method of treating waste products comprises the steps of adding an absorbent to the waste product to form a absorbed solid, semi-solid or fluid matrix, the matrix being then subjected to an increase in temperature. The apparatus comprises a material inlet, a heated generator tube, one or more outlets being connected with the heated generator tube, and a material outlet.

A method of separating a high boiling component from a mixture containing organic and/or inorganic boiling components which method involves providing an induction heated screw conveyor having an auger and passing the mixture through the induction heated screw conveyor while inductively heating the auger so as to heat the mixture in the induction heated screw conveyor. The mixture is heated to a temperature that is sufficient to cause the boiling component(s) to separate from the mixture as a vapor and the boiling component is removed from the induction heated screw conveyor.

A rotary heat exchanger includes an evaporation chamber in which sprayers spray a feed liquid to be purified onto the surfaces of heat-exchange members, which heat it and cause some of it to evaporate. The remaining, un-evaporated feed liquid is collected by a rapidly spinning sump, from which scoops skim the spinning sump liquid and direct it back to the sprayers. To make the rate at which feed liquid is supplied to the heat ex- changer match that at which the sprayed liquid evaporates, a regulator bases its control of a flow-controlling valve's flow resistance on the internal pressure that prevails in one of the scoops.

An apparatus and method for improving vapor quality in evaporators utilizing rotating flash devices (84). The flash devices (80) are provided with elements (87, 89, 91) to obstruct the flow of liquid in the direction of vapor exit (94). Such elements (87, 89, 91) include a slinger plate (87) affixed to the rotating flash devices (84), and various skimmer plate designs (91) which interrupt or act against liquid flow toward the vapor exit (94).

A thin-film evaporator (TFE) includes a cylindrical body and blades disposed therein. However, to avoid clogging within a "dead zone" of a conventional discharge nozzle coupled to the cylindrical body of the TFE, an integrated drive screw apparatus intersects the cylindrical body of the TFE. The drive screw apparatus extracts processed material from the cylindrical body and ejects the processed material via a discharge nozzle coupled to the drive screw apparatus. The intersection of the cylindrical body of the TFE and the drive screw apparatus effectively reduces (possibly to zero) length of the dead zone.

A system having a reactor for continuous processing of fluid is provided herein. The reactor, in general, includes an outer vessel to accommodate fluids to be processed or used in connection therewith, an inner vessel situated within the outer vessel to serve as an energy exchange surface, and an annular space defined between the outer and inner vessels and along which processing of the fluids can be implemented. The continuous thin film reactor can be used to perform, for example, distillation and evaporation, fluid-fluid or solid-fluid-fluid reactions, organic reactions, cooling, and desalination.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Entfernung von Isocyanat aus einem Umsetzungsprodukt von Isocyanat mit gegenüber Isocyanaten reaktiven Verbindungen, wobei das Umsetzungsprodukt auf die Oberfläche eines rotierenden Körpers A aufgetragen wird, das Umsetzungsprodukt über die Oberfläche des rotierenden Körpers A zu einem äußeren Bereich der Oberfläche des rotierenden Körpers A fließt und dabei Isocyanat, das zur Herstellung des Umsetzungsproduktes eingesetzt und nicht umgesetzt wurde, aus der Mischung verdampft.
