    Abstract: A process is provided for separation of at least one metal sulfide from a mixed sulfide concentrate. The process may comprise: subjecting the mixed sulfide concentrate to flotation in which at least one sulfide comprising antimony, arsenic and a first metal is floated and at least one sulfide comprising a second metal is depressed. The flotation yields a first metal concentrate having the at least one sulfide comprising antimony, arsenic and the first metal and a second metal concentrate having the at least one sulfide comprising the second metal. The first metal concentrate is leached to yield a further concentrate and a leach solution. The further concentrate comprises the first metal and the leach solution comprises soluble antimony and soluble arsenic. The process may further comprise oxidizing the leach solution to yield an antimony precipitate and an arsenic solution, and forming a stable arsenic compound from the arsenic solution.

    Abstract: There is provided methods for separating a target material from a raw material by mixing the raw material with water to form a slurry, adding a collector compound to the slurry to modify a relative hydrophobicity of a surface of the target material, adding a facilitator compound to enhance the modification of the relative hydrophobicity of the surface, and forming a froth including a concentrate of the target material. Disclosed methods may also include adding a facilitator compound to a raw material slurry that has been treated with a collector compound and a reagent for neutralizing the collector compound.

    Abstract: The invention provides method to recover, by means of froth flotation, a desired metal value from a feedstock containing it. In a comminution step, the feedstock is comminuted using comminuting media of an iron and chrome steel alloy comprising from 12% to 30% chrome. In a conditioning step, the feedstock material is contacted with thiourea and/or oxalic acid as primary flotation reagents. The conditioning step comprises the comminution step, in which a quantity of the primary flotation reagent/s being added and preconditioned comminuted feedstock material being obtained. The conditioning step also comprises an optional conditioning finishing step, in which a mixture of the preconditioned comminuted feedstock material and a liquid is subjected to stirring and with conditioned comminuted feedstock material being obtained from the finishing step. In a recovery step, at least some of the desired metal value is recovered by froth flotation from the preconditioned or conditioned feedstock.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method of improving a flotation separation process. The method involves an organophosphorus compound, a material previously thought to only be of use in controlling scale deposit on surfaces of equipment used in cyanide leaching. In the invention the organoposphorus compound is added to the flotation separation process for improved sulfide mineral separation. Not only does the addition of the organophosphorus compound improve the overall recovery of sulfide complexed metals in flotation, but by doing so it also reduces the energy requirements and adds other efficiencies to other downstream ore processing and refining steps. This has the added benefit of helping to preserve the enviroment.
