Abstract:
Depressants comprising a polymer comprising: a) recurring units of one or more acrylamide monomers; b) recurring units of one or more monomers selected from hydroxyalkyl alkylacrylate, allyloxyalkyldiol, allyloxyethanol, trimethylolpropane allyl ether, and 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate; and optionally, c) recurring units of one or more acrylic acid monomers are provided. Also disclosed are processes for enriching a desired mineral from an ore comprising the desired mineral and gangue, wherein the process comprises carrying out a flotation process in the presence of one or more of the depressants.
Abstract:
A flotation method for mineral processing is disclosed. The method for floating comprises a first step comprises using a first carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) in a first flotation cell, and a subsequent step comprises using a second CMC in a subsequent flotation cell, the first and second CMCs having different characteristics. The first CMC has a degree of substitution (DS) that is different from a DS of the second CMC, preferably the DS of the first CMC is lower than the DS of the second CMC. The first flotation cell may be comprised in at least one rougher stage and/or at least one rougher-scavenger stage of the flotation method, and the subsequent flotation cell may be comprised in at least one cleaner stage, and/or at least one cleaner scavenger stage, and/or at least one recleaner stage of the flotation method. A product, such as a concentrate of minerals, may be obtained, directly or indirectly, by such a method. A mineral processing plant may use at least two CMCs of different characteristics in flotation for mineral processing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for enriching an iron mineral from a silicate containing iron ore by inverse flotation comprising the addition of a collector or collector composition comprising at least one of the compounds of formulae RO-X-NH2 (Ia); RO-X-NH3 + Y- (Ib);RO-X-NH-Z-NH2 (IIa); and RO-X-NH-Z-NH3 + Y- (IIb), in which X is a linear or branched aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Z is a linear or branched aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Y- is an anion; and R is an aliphatic group of the formula (I) C5H11CH(C3H7)CH2- (I) wherein the C5H11 moeity of the aliphatic group of the formula (I) comprises 70 to 99% by weight n-C5H11-, and 1 to 30% by weight C2H5CH(CH3)CH2- and/or CH3CH(CH3)CH2CH2-.
Abstract:
Compounds of the formulae: RO-X-NH 2 (Ia); RO-X-NH 3 + Y - (Ib); RO-X-NH-Z-NH 2 (IIa); and RO-X-NH-Z-NH 3 + Y - (IIb), in which X is an aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Z is an aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Y - is an anion; and R is an aliphatic iso C 13 H 27 - group with average branching degree ranging from 1.5 to 3.5. The compounds are particularly suitable as flotation collectors for enriching an iron mineral from a silicate-containing iron ore.
Abstract:
A mineral separation process includes wet-grinding the ore to liberation of minerals, oxidizing the slurry using air, hydrogen peroxide or other oxidants and floating the valuable minerals at a pH between about 9.0 and 10.0 with a xanthate as collector, and a combination of a polyamine and a sulfur containing species as depressants for arsenide minerals. This depressant suite effectively depresses the flotation of arsenide minerals with no effect on the flotation of the valuable minerals.
Abstract:
A new depressant for use in enhanced separation of polymetallic sulphides is described. The depressant agent is used in conjunction with convention collector agents and frothing agents in the flotation separation of copper, nickel, lead, zinc sulphides by depressing iron sulphides such as pyrrhotite, pyrite and marcasite in the tailing. The depressant consists of a cross-linked starch chemically combined with a polyacrylate and sugar free lignin sulphonate.
Abstract:
A magnesium suppressant/flocculant for use in separating dolomite from calcium phosphate. The magnesium suppressant/flocculant may be applied at a mine site prior to subjecting ore fractions to phosphate flotation or at a chemical plant after grinding.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a compound obtainable by the condensation of a polyol having 3-4 hydroxyl groups, adicarboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, an alkanolamine anda fatty acid, followed by reaction with an alkylating agent. This compound is useful as a collector in a process for the reverse froth flotation of non-sulfidic ores containing silicate as impurities, especially phosphate ores.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to flotation of sulfidic materials following aerating by an oxidizing gas and contacting by a sulfoxy reagent.
