Abstract:
The invention relates to applying a liquid to pasty hot-melt adhesive to a substrate (44), comprising a template (29), having at least one cavity (38) for the hot-melt adhesive, and also comprising an adhesive-transfer infeed (33), which is assigned to the template (29) and through which the adhesive can be introduced into the cavity (38). The special feature consists in that the apparatus (10) further comprises a transporting-fluid-supply opening (35), assigned to the template (29), and a device for displacing (13, 15), in particular pivoting, the template (29) between a first position, in which the cavity (38) is assigned to the adhesive-transfer infeed (33), and a second position, in which the cavity (38) is assigned to the transporting-fluid-supply opening (35), and therefore the adhesive, in the second position, can be discharged from the cavity (38) by a transporting fluid flowing through the transporting-fluid-supply opening (35).
Abstract:
A substantially planar assembly for depositing material. The assembly comprises plates which, when assembled, define at least one aerosol channel, a sheath gas plenum, and a nozzle. These components are preferably anisotropic, and preferably rectangular. The aerosol channel may be divided further to improve uniformity of aerosol flow.
Abstract:
A thermal spray device for applying powder and polymer coatings, to large areas by means of a staged double or triple Venturi oriented at the distal end to produce a compression wave is described. The spray patterns produced by the nozzles can range from about three inches to about nine inches. The gun is designed so that the front-end nozzles are interchangeable with other front-end nozzles so as to allow for quick changes between nozzles designed to cover different coverage areas. The lightweight compact design allows for comfort and high portability.
Abstract:
A method for applying a foam composition to a paper web is provided. Specifically, a foam applicator is positioned adjacent to a surface of the web. The foam applicator defines an extrusion slot through which the foam composition is capable of flowing. In one embodiment, the extrusion slot is in communication with an air channel. The foam composition is optionally entrained with an air stream traveling through the air channel. The foam composition contacts at least one liquid-permeable partition (e.g., wire-mesh screen) to fragment gaseous bubbles contained therein.
Abstract:
A nozzle (10) which receives first and second materials (24, 30) and which has an outlet aperture (18). The first material (24) is received within the outlet aperture (18) and is atomized by the second material (30) within the outlet aperture (18) before it is emitted from the nozzle (10) and applied to a targeted location and/or object (26).
Abstract:
A corrugated paperboard strength enhancing process includes at least one resin application station located within the confines of the corrugator at a position where it is operable to apply a preselected amount of strength enhancing resin to at least one side of the medium after it has been fluted and most preferably before adhesive has been applied to the medium for securing liner paper thereto. At least one liner is adhered to the set of opposed flute tips. Thereafter the combined board with the resin compound on selected transverse portions of the fluted medium is allowed to cure, under selected temperature and moisture conditions and without the application of pressure that would crush the fluted medium. A suitable resin for the intended purpose is an isocyanate compound. The strength-enhanced corrugated paperboard can be efficiently repulped.
Abstract:
Spray device in which the water spray from a water chamber (8) is supplied to the spray head (16) by cylindrical tubes (12) inducing a head loss. The water from the tubes (12) is guided by tubes (13) into a V-shaped water outlet channel (18) forming a continuous slot (19). Water ejection means (7) are mounted on either side of the slot and in the air conduits (3, 4); said water ejection means (7) are formed by vanes (21) in which the flow of spray water is guided perpendicularly to the surface of the item to be treated. Said vanes, which are segment-shaped, are placed end to end along the length of the slot and form converging conduits for the air, ending in rectangular slot openings. A second embodiment is given for a vertical-jet spray.
Abstract:
A paint spray gun comprises a spray gun body; an air cap; and a hollow needle capable of assuming at least an open position enabling the passage of paint therethrough and a closed position; at least one air distribution channel for atomizing air; and at least one air distribution channel for fan air. A fluid spray single two stage nozzle includes first and second internal surfaces at first and second predetermined angles, respectively, with respect to a rotational axis of symmetry of the nozzle, wherein the first angled surface is proximate a forward opening of the nozzle, the second angled surface is aft of the first angled surface, the first angle is in a range of substantially 0.05 to thirty degrees, and the second angle ranges from substantially 0.1 to sixty degrees greater than that of the first angle.
Abstract:
A foam generating device for a high-pressure water gun has a supporting body (14) defining part of a conduit (2), which extends along an axis (3) and has a mixing chamber (7) communicating with a lower inlet, and subject, in use, to a vacuum to aspirate a liquid from said lower inlet; the device has a first sleeve (17) which is fitted around one end of the supporting body (14), is axially fixed, is rotatable and is provided with an end portion carrying a nozzle (40); such a nozzle (40) defines the outlet (5) of the conduit and is adjustable so as to vary the outgoing flow type between a fan-like jet and a solid stream jet; the device has, in addition, a second sleeve (44) which is coupled to the first sleeve (17) in a fixed axial position and in a rotatable manner and is provided with cams (49) to adjust the nozzle (40) in response to a rotation of the second sleeve (44) with respect to the first sleeve (41).
