A device (10) for packaging a coil of metallic ribbon stock (12) comprises a first planar panel (11a) and a second planar panel (11b), wherein the first and second planar panels have substantially the same shape, and a sidewall panel (13) that interconnects the first and second planar panels (11a, 11b) along the perimeter of the first and second planar panels to form a container. The sidewall panel (13) preferably comprises a plurality of perforated regions or openings (14) each defining an aperture through which a roller (22) is inserted to rotatably engage the coil of metallic ribbon stock (12) within the container (10). An apparatus for dispensing lengths of metallic ribbon stock from the dispenser (10) containing the coil of metallic ribbon stock (12) comprises a mounting device for mounting the dispenser (10), a plurality of roller assemblies (20), each comprising a roller (22), and a positioning device operatively connected to each roller assembly (20), wherein for a given roller assembly (20), the positioning device operates to insert at least a portion of the roller (22) through an aperture (14) of the dispenser (10) for rotatably engaging the roller (22) with the coil of metallic ribbon stock (12).

A pouring reel for forming a hot rolled long product into an annular coil comprises a central mast lying on a vertical axis. A cylindrical tub surrounds and cooperates with the central mast to form an annular tub chamber. A coil plate defines a bottom of the tub chamber. The central mast, cylindrical tub and coil plate are rotatable in unison about the vertical axis. An entry nozzle has a delivery end arranged to direct the product downwardly into the tub chamber for accumulation on the coil plate as a series of superimposed rings forming the coil. The coil plate is movable downwardly along the vertical axis and relative to the central mast and the cylindrical tub to accommodate the increasing height of the coil being formed in the tub chamber.

A pair of flanges attachable to the arbor hole of a reel is disclosed. The flanges provide a mechanism to allow the reel to be easily loaded, and lifted into place. Once loaded into place, the flanges may include a locking mechanism that locks the reel in place, centered on the flanges. Additionally, the flanges are attachable using a hub that allows them to rotate independently from one another, and from the reel to which they are attached.

Dargestellt und beschrieben ist eine Anwickelhilfe (6, 7) für einen Bandhaspel (11, 12) für Metallband, insbesondere ausgebildet zum Andrücken eines warmgewalzten Magnesiumbandes (2) mit Temperaturen zwischen 300 °C und 450 °C an den Bandhaspel (11, 12). Erfindungsgemäß ist ein senkrecht zur Längsachse des Bandhaspels (11, 12) zwischen einer Freigabeposition und einer Anwickelposition hin- und herverfahrbar gelagerten Tragkörper (13) vorgesehen, wobei der Tragkörper (13) eine Mehrzahl von vorzugsweise mittels Druckzylindern (14, 15, 16) verstellbaren Andrückrollen (18, 19, 20, 21) aufweist zum Einführen und Andrücken der ersten und/oder letzten Bandlagen eines Metallbandes an den Bandhaspel (11, 12) bzw. an die aufgewickelten Bandlagen und wobei in der Anwickelposition die Andrückrollen (18, 19, 20, 21) unmittelbar gegen den Bandhaspel (11, 12) oder das aufgewickelte Metallband derart andrückbar sind, daß ein schlupffreies Aufwickeln und/oder Abwickeln des Metallbandes sichergestellt ist.

The invention relates to a spool for winding fine metal wire on, comprising a core and two flanges coupled to either end of said core, wherein the outer side of each of said flanges comprises multiple debossed areas that extend radial from said core and are evenly distributed around said core. The debossed areas reduce the spreading of the flanges when winding fine metal wire on.
Abstract:
A pouring reel for forming a long product moving at an incoming velocity into an annular coil comprises a central mast lying on a vertical axis. A cylindrical tub surrounds and cooperates with the mast to form an annular chamber, the bottom of which is closed by a coil plate. An entry pipe is arranged to deliver the product downwardly for accumulation in the chamber as a series of superimposed rings forming the annular coil. A first drive mechanism rotates the tub about the vertical axis, and a second drive mechanism rotates the mast about the same axis. The first and second drive mechanisms are operable independently of each other to thereby permit the tub and the mast to be rotated at surface velocities substantially matching the incoming velocity of the product. The tub and entry pipe may also be vertically adjustable in unison relative to the central mast and coil plate in order to maintain the free fall distance of product being delivered into the chamber at a predetermined substantially constant minimum.

An apparatus for actively transferring a coil of hot metal within a coilbox in hot strip mill. The apparatus is located downstream of the initial coilbox uncoiling station and includes at least one singly pivoting coil cradle. Such a coil cradle has a first support roller with a fixed rotational axis, a swing-frame mounted to pivot about that axis, and a second support roller mounted to the swing-frame, able to pivot about the fixed rotational axis of the first support roller to permit the coil of hot metal to be passed from the coil cradle. In certain embodiments, the apparatus includes a plurality of such singly pivoting coil cradles. The apparatus may also include at least one dually pivoting coil cradle.
