Abstract:
A spindle extension (60) especially for drilling and milling operation is desirable to complete many modern die molds or to protect the host machine spindle from undesirable wear. The inventive spindle extension contains its own adjustable length draw bar assembly (75) that works in tandem with the host machine power draw bar that is easily activated to provide quick and secure tool changes. Surrogate and long-reach embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an apparatus (10) for facilitating connection of an accessory (20) such as a drill bit, to a drill (100). The apparatus includes an accessory holder (30) for holding the accessory and drill engaging means (40) for facilitating accurate location of the drill (100) relative to the accessory holder (30).

Abstract:
A tool holder (10, 10') includes a body (12, 112), a cutting head (14, 114) having a cutting end portion (38, 138) and a tapered end portion (42, 142), a retention knob (16, 116) located at the tapered end portion of the cutting head, and a ball clamping mechanism (20, 120) received in an aperture (34, 134) of the body. The ball clamping mechanism includes an upper clamp (22, 122), a lower clamp (24, 124), and a double-ended clamp screw threaded (26, 126) onto the upper and lower clamps. Rotation of the clamp screw in a one direction causes the upper clamp and the lower clamp to move toward each other and engage the retention knob to place the tool holder in a locked position, and rotation of the clamp screw in an opposite direction causes the upper clamp and the lower clamp to move away from each other such that the upper and lower clamps no longer engage the retention knob to place the tool holder in a unlocked position.
Abstract:
A reduction accessory (60) for a spindle (12) of a machine tool (1) comprising at least a pair of attachment devices (90) for the releasable coupling to the spindle (12). Each attachment device (90) comprises a yielding coupling element (92) in the form of a spring clamp which can be inserted into an engagement seat (44) of the spindle and then activated to engage a protrusion (48) of the engagement seat (44).
Abstract:
A retention knob for use with a tool holder that is less prone to distorting a tapered tool holder surface, especially if it is over-tightened. The retention knob includes a knob head, a flange engageable with an end of a tool holder shank, a pilot segment receivable by the counter bore defined by said tool holder shank and a threaded segment spaced from said flange by an undercut segment. The threaded segment is configured so that it has a length that is substantially the minimum length required to achieve maximum thread holding strength. The undercut segment is configured to space the threaded segment from its head so that a distal end of the threaded segment is substantially near the bottom of the tapered bore forming part of the tool holder.
