An airbag module for protecting an occupant of a vehicle. The module includes an airbag and an inflator for providing inflation gas for the airbag. A diffuser is positioned in the airbag and configured to direct the flow of inflation gas into the airbag. The diffuser includes a main panel and a deflector panel connected together. The diffuser is configured to provide for first and second flow paths for inflation gas to exit diffuser and flow into the cushion. The main panel is folded along a fold line to create two folded portions and the deflector panel is located within the connected folded portions. The deflector panel is located in the first flow path and extends beyond the folded portions of the main panel. The extending portion of the deflector panel forces the inflation gas to change direction.

Disclosed is an inflation gas deflector for an automotive airbag assembly. The inflation gas deflector includes a multiple layer composite of a support layer and an inorganic platelet layer carried by the support layer. Also disclosed is an airbag cushion incorporating the inflation gas deflector and an automotive airbag assembly including the inflatable airbag cushion and an inflator.

A side impact or rollover restraint system (20) has an airbag (22) that upon inflation is of sufficient height to extend from proximate a seat (25) of a vehicle to a location generally adjacent the shoulder of a 50th percentile sized seated vehicle occupant such that the inflated airbag will lie between the vehicle occupant and a side portion of the vehicle. The airbag has two panels (24a, 24b) of fabric that are joined together to create a pair of inflatable chambers (36, 38). At least one internal tether (30) forms a bridge between the panels (24a, 24b).
Abstract:
An airbag module (10) has an airbag inflator (18) and an airbag (14) that can be inflated by the airbag inflator. The airbag has a hole (46) to receive the airbag inflator and at least one tab (38) attached to the airbag (14) near the hole to assist in the insertion of the airbag inflator (18) into airbag. The airbag (14) has a heat shield (64, 130, 150) near the airbag inflator.

The invention concerns a vehicle bumper (1) equipped with shock-absorbing means, and comprising a rigid support (3) linked to the vehicle and whereon is fixed a shell (2) for receiving the impact, the shock-absorbing means including at least two pyrotechnic actuators activated by a control system (11) connected to at least an impact and/or deceleration sensor (12a, 12b, 12c). Said bumper is characterised in that each pyrotechnic actuator (9) comprises at least two gas-generating powder tablets (10a, 10b, 10c) capable of being primed individually by the control system (11) so as to supply to the actuator at least two efforts of different intensity levels.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Gassack für ein Airbagmodul eines Kraftfahrzeugs, mit mindestens zwei Gassackteilen (1, 2), die zur Bildung eines mit Gas befüllbaren Gassackes über mindestens eine Naht (N) miteinander verbunden sind, so dass der resultierende Gassack eine dem Inneren des Gassackes zugewandte Innenwand (11, 21 ) und eine hiervon abgewandte Außenwand aufweist, und mit einer Flammschutzlage (3), die derart innerhalb des Gassackes angeordnet und mit dem Gassack verbunden ist, dass die Flammschutzlage (3) den Gassack zum Schutz vor Gasen abschnittsweise überdeckt. Dabei ist in der Flammschutzlage (3) mindestens ein Einschnitt (31, 32) ausgebildet, durch welchen in der Flammschutzlage (3) ein wegklappbarer Teilabschnitt (33, 34) erzeugt wird, der über eine Naht (N) klappbar ist, mittels der die Gassackteile (1, 2) miteinander verbunden sind.

Inflatable airbag cushions are filled with inflation gas by inflators. The inflators can be coupled in fluid communication with the airbag and are typically mounted within a vehicle structure by a coupling and closing member. The coupling and closing member can be an elongated piece of a flexible material that wraps around an inflator attachment feature on the airbag. The coupling and closing member can also have structures for fixedly attaching the member to a vehicle structure.

The invention relates to a gas bag comprising a filler neck (120) via which the gas bag (100) can be filled with the gas from a gas generator (200). The filler neck (120) is formed by folding over a tubular zone (140) of the gas bag (120). In another embodiment of the invention, the gas discharge zone of a gas generator is at least partly surrounded by a fabric protecting element that is mounted on the gas generator, and at least one section of the gas generator is disposed in a filler neck of the gas bag along with the fabric protecting element.
