A wheel inflation apparatus including a wheel engagement unit that suspends a tire/wheel assembly and at least one inflation unit coupled to the robotic arm, each inflation unit being configured to inflate the tire/wheel assembly. A load measuring unit is configured to sense an amount of load being applied to the wheel/tire assembly. A controller is coupled to the load measuring unit for receiving a load signal and determining an internal air pressure of the tire/wheel assembly based on the load signal. The controller controls the at least one inflation unit based on the determined internal air pressure and a target (desired) air pressure value.

L'invention concerne la simplification du procédé classique de contrôle et/ou d'ajustement de pression pour un ensemble monté pour un véhicule, en particulier pour un véhicule à deux roues, et plus précisément d'en réduire le nombre d'étapes, et de proposer un dispositif de contrôle et/ou d'ajustement de pression pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé. Un ensemble monté (31) est constitué d'un pneumatique (32) préférentiellement « tubeless » monté sur une jante (33) et gonflé à une pression initiale, le pneumatique comprenant une surface intérieure constituant la paroi (34) de la cavité du pneumatique en contact avec l'air interne, la paroi de la cavité du pneumatique étant au moins en partie recouverte par un matériau auto obturant (35). Dans le procédé de contrôle et/ou d'ajustement de pression d'un ensemble monté, selon l'invention, on introduit dans la cavité du pneumatique une interface de gonflage (36), par perçage d'un trou dans la paroi de la cavité du pneumatique dans une partie recouverte par le matériau auto obturant, on extrait l'interface de gonflage, de la cavité du pneumatique, après gonflage, et le trou de perçage dans la paroi de la cavité du pneumatique est obturé spontanément par le matériau auto obturant, après extraction de l'interface de gonflage.

Ein Gerät dient zum Abdichten und Aufpumpen eines aufblasbaren Objekts (9), z.B. eines Reifens (9), das mit einem Aufpumpventil (11) versehen ist. Das Gerät (1) ist von einer solchen Art, die eine Druckgasquelle (2) und einen Behälter (3) mit einem Dichtmittel (4) umfasst. Ferner umfasst das Gerät (1) ein Umschalt-ventil (5), das in einer ersten Position für das Öffnen einer ersten Verbindung zwischen der Druckgasquelle (2) und dem Aufpump-ventil (11) des Objekts (9) und in einer zweiten Position für das Öffnen einer zweiten Verbindung zwischen der Druckgas-quelle (2) und dem Behälter (3) und ferner zwischen diesem und dem Auf-pump-ventil (11) des Objekts (9) vorgesehen ist. Das Gerät kann in einer Funktionsweise zum Aufpumpen eines Objekts, das Luft verloren hat, auf den vorgeschriebenen Druck und in einer anderen Funktionsweise zum Abdichten und Aufpumpen eines undicht gewordenen Objekts verwendet werden. Dadurch wird das schwere und sperrige von Autofahrern herkömm-lich mitgeführte Ersatz-rad überflüssig gemacht.

An inflation device including a cylindrical housing (12) which receives a pressurized cartridge (c) of gas, a head unit (14), and a nozzle (16). The head unit (14) of the device includes a means for creating and delivering a metered bolus of gas per each actuation of the device. The device also includes a means for audibly indicating to the user when a single bolus of gas has been successfully delivered to an inflatable bladder.

A manifold (10) for inflating tubeless tires that efficiently directs pressurized air (60, 62) to a void (54, 56, 58) between a tire bead (48) and a rim edge (46). Manifold (10) is fan shaped with a center face (12) and angled side faces (14, 16). Side faces (14, 16) have a first plurality of apertures (20) at a predetermined centerline and the center face has a second plurality of apertures (18) that are offset from the predetermined centerline. The offset second plurality of air flow apertures (18) are directed to the widest void (56) between the tire bead (48) and rim edge (46) while the first plurality of air flow apertures (20) are directed to the narrow void (58) on either side of the widest void (56). A two contact point stop (36', 36") or rest assembly is used to abut against two points on the rim edge (46) to provide and maintain a predetermined distance (40) between the center face (12) and the widest void (56) and to provide an optimum angle of the manifold for inflation.

An apparatus for introducing air and/or sealant into a tire includes a container for the sealant which has an inlet and an outlet and a pressure generating means, wherein the inlet of the container is connectable to the pressure generating means and the outlet of the container (14) is connected or connectable to the inlet end (24) of a hose (20) whose outlet end is connectable to the tire to be filled. A latchable coupling is provided for connecting the pressure generation means to the inlet of the container, with two latching levers (50) provided at the container (14) being designed to release the locking connection of the coupling on a movement of the respective free lever ends toward one another.

The invention relates to a tyre inflator consisting of a receptacle sleeve (1) for a compressed gas cartridge (2) and an inflating head which can be screwed into the receptacle sleeve with a connector, a hollow pin, an automatically closing outlet valve and a tyre valve connector aperture. According to the invention, the outlet valve takes the form of a cylinder/piston arrangement with a piston slide guided in a cylindrical drilling in the acceptor body. The piston slide (10) supported on a return spring (11) contains an outlet channel (12) running in the longitudinal direction of the piston which is widened at the end to the tyre valve connector aperture and a radial bore (13) connected to the outlet channel. The connector also has a chamber which encloses the free end of the piston slide containing the tyre valve connector aperture on the casing side at a short distance when the piston slide is closed.

A connector for quick attachment of a portable aerosol dispenser of pressurized gas (70) to a tire valve (60) includes an internally lugged, segmented skirt (26) and a relatively reciprocable sleeve (30), which, in one position allows the skirt quickly to be engaged with or disengaged from the threaded portion of the tire valve, and in the other position confines the skirt segments against divergence, whereby the connector can be made secure to the tire valve.
