A method and system for assembling a vehicle of a family of vehicles includes providing a group of engines. A first engine including a first number of cylinders corresponds to a first vehicle. A second engine including a second number of cylinders corresponds to a second vehicle. The second number is greater than the first number which is at least one. A cylinder plane extends vertically and longitudinally. At least one cylinder is disposed at least partly forward of a front wheel plane. The transmission assembly is rearward of the selected engine and one of the transmission assembly and the selected engine is in a same location whether the selected engine is the first or the second. The seat is at least in part longitudinally rearward of the transmission assembly. The selected engine is laterally disposed between the centers of the footrests.

Braking and centering mechanisms for foot-deck-based vehicles are described. At least one of the at least one rear wheel of the foot-deck-based vehicle is a braking wheel that is pivotally connected to the foot-deck for swivel movement about a rear swivel axis through a range of angular positions. The braking mechanism comprises a brake member coupled to the rear end of the foot-deck. The brake member is configured to move between a braking position in which the brake member is depressed towards the braking wheel and drives a brake surface to a frictionally engaging position at which the brake surface frictionally engages the braking wheel to reduce a speed of the foot-deck-based vehicle regardless of the angular position of the braking wheel within the range, and a non-braking position in which the brake member permits movement of the brake surface away from the braking wheel.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Fahrzeug mit einem Grundrahmen (1), an dem mindestens ein mittels einer Achsschenkellenkung lenkbares Kontaktelement (3a), beispielsweise ein Rad, eine Kufe, eine Raupenkette oder ein Schwimmkörper, befestigt ist, einem gegenüber dem Grundrahmen (1) neigbaren Neigerahmen (2) mit einer Neigeachse (35), einem Lenkrohr (6) mit einer schräg oder senkrecht zur Neigeachse (35) verlaufenden Lenkachse (59), mindestens einer Spurstange (7) und einem Spurstangenbetätigungselement (39). Das Spurstangenbetätigungselement (39) ist gegenüber dem Neigerahmen (2) beweglich, und wird durch Neigen des Neigerahmens (2) um die Neigeachse (35) und unabhängig davon durch Drehen des Lenkrohres (6) um die Lenkachse (59) derart betätigt, dass das lenkbare Kontaktelement (3a) vermittels der mindestens einen Spurstange (7) eine Lenkbewegung erfährt, ohne dass dadurch bei Kurvenfahrt eine wesentliche Änderung des Sturzes des mindestens einen lenkbaren Kontaktelements (3a) erfolgt.
