Abstract:
It is known to retro-fit continuous track units to wheeled vehicles. This apparatus permits this to happen such that the continuous track units are securely attached and so that the vehicle can withstand shock loads and be operated over rough terrain without them becoming dislodged. This is effected by a first portion (240) attachable to the vehicle's chassis (75), the first portion arranged to substantially surround the drive hub (25), a second portion (250) including a support arm (280) for supporting the continuous track unit, the second portion releasably attachable to the first portion, and a drive sprocket (260) releasably attachable to the drive hub for transferring torque from the drive hub to the continuous track unit so as to rotate the track in use with the wheel removed and the apparatus attached to the vehicle.

The crawler-track unit (14) further includes - a shaft (80) mounted in bearings on the crawler-track frame (16) for pivoting the said drive wheel (20) to the crawler-track frame (16) at a distance from the drive shaft (60), and power-transmission means (41) fitted between the said shaft (80) and the drive shaft (60) for transmitting power from the drive shaft (60) to the drive wheel (20). The invention also relates to a corresponding forest machine.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The track system includes a plurality of track assemblies, each having track; a frame structure to mount the track to the vehicle; and inner wheels in contact with an inner surface of the track. The track assembly also includes two drive gears disposed externally to the track and configured to frictionally engaged an outer surface of a corresponding one of the tires. The drive gears are drivingly connected with the track for transmitting power thereto. Each one of the drive gears has a rotation axis, a plurality of elongated traction bars extending substantially parallel and circumferentially to the rotation axis, and opem ends. The elongated traction bars are spaced-apart from one another and define channels therebetween allowing granular and liquid materials to flow inwardly towards the rotation axis, and outwardly of the drive gears through the apertured ends.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a track section (10) adapted to be linked to a plurality of similar track sections to form a flexible track belt (1) for mounting around the outer periphery of vehicle tyres. The track section comprises a crossbar member (11) and two lateral support members (12), each of which having a support surface for engagement with the outer surface of a tyre received between the support members. At least one of the support members has an inner stem part (18), through which the support member is connected to the crossbar member, and an outer head part (19), which is connected to the stem part and wider than the stem part. The support surface of this support member bulges laterally in opposite directions at the part of the support member where the stem part meets the head part. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a support member.
Abstract:
A track assembly 30 for converting a wheeled vehicle 10 into a tracked vehicle. The track assembly 30 has a longitudinally adjustable support frame 40 having a motive source 170 with a drive sprocket 190, a plurality of support rollers 80, 84, 88, a tensioning assembly 90, and an endless track 200. The track assembly 30 is connected to a vehicle 10 by articulated, resiliently biased mounting assemblies 210, 410. Each mounting assembly 210, 410 includes a first attachment member 212, 412, a link 250, 450, and a second attachment member 300, 500, with the first attachment member 212, 412 configured to be removably attached to a position on a vehicle 10 where a wheel axle attached to an internal drive unit 19 would normally reside but which has been disconnected from its control lines and removed, and with the second attachment member 300, 500 configured to be connected to the support frame 40. The motive source 170 of the track assembly 30 is connected to and controlled by the same control lines 18 that were previously connected to the internal drive unit 19.
Abstract:
A snow traction unit to replace a wheel of an all wheel drive vehicle which includes a frame supporting two carrier wheels; said carrier wheels being spaced apart a distance greater than their combined radii; an endless snow contacting track mounted for rotation on said carrier wheels; a track contacting surface provided between the lower extremities of said carrier wheels; a drive engagement means for engaging the drive shaft of the vehicle and for driving at least one of said carrier wheels; the arrangement of the width of the track, the spacing between the carrier wheels and the track contacting surface resulting in the vehicle having a force imprint less than 250Kg/square metre.
Abstract:
Low ground pressure tire chains for skid-steer loaders and other construction machinery. A track (12) for parallel drive wheeled vehicles (10) having spaced apart pairs of wheels (14, 16) assembled with a plurality of base units (24) pivotally interconnected in series by opposing links (26), each base unit comprising a pair of opposing side supports (32) with a wedge portion (36) extending towards the opposing side support to wedgingly receive a portion of a tire in a gap between the opposing side supports.
