Abstract: A marine propulsion system comprising a push rod (50) for adjusting the pitch of propeller blades (34). The push rod (50) has a screw-threaded bolt (60) engaged with a nut (78). The nut (78) carries a bevel gear (84) by which the nut (78) can be rotated to cause the bolt (60) and therefore the push rod (50) to move longitudinally. The push rod (50) is connected to a claw with arms couple with pins (170). The pins (170) engage eccentric shafts (174) for unlocking a propeller base (190) so the base (190) can rotate around a transverse axis. The base (190) has an inclined surface which engages with an inclined surface defining an opening in the propeller’s hub therefore locking the propeller blade (34) in position. The inclined surfaces are disengaged by rotation of the eccentric shaft (174) thus the propeller blades (34) can be rotated to adjust the pitch and than the inclined surfaces re-engage locking the propeller blade (34) in the pitch adjusted position.

Abstract: A marine propeller comprises a hollow hub body (11), a plurality of propeller blades (16) and a plurality of fastening devices (19, 21) for each propeller blade (16). Each fastening device includes a tension rod (19) and a flange member (22) mounted on the tension rod. The propeller blades (16) may be turnable for adjustment of the blade pitch angle ( alpha ) and lockable in a selelcted position by means of the fastening devices (19, 21). The flange member (22) has a plurality of recesses (23) and tensioning members (24) received in the recesses. These tensioning members (24) are extendable from the flange member (22) towards the hub body wall (14) to apply tension to the tension rod (19).

Abstract: There are described an assembly comprising a plurality of screws (10) and a propeller and a related method for adjusting the fluid dynamic pitch of the blades of the propeller. The propeller is provided with at least one blade pivoted rotatably to a cylindrical propeller casing (3), a hub (2) coupled to an engine and mounted coaxially inside the propeller casing, a kinematic mechanism coupled to the hub and/or to the propeller casing, and to said at least one blade for adjusting the fluid dynamic pitch of the propeller by means of rotation of at least one blade about its pivot axis to the propeller casing. The hub (2) is rotatable with respect to the cylindrical propeller casing (3), or vice versa, for at least one non-zero angular interval (a) of operation of the kinematic mechanism for adjusting the fluid dynamic pitch, and the hub is also integral with at least one contact surface (20, 21) movable between at least one position of disengagement from and at least one position of engagement with, direct or indirect, at least one relative abutment (10, 40, 41) integral with the cylindrical propeller casing (3) which defines at least one limit stop of the angular interval (a). The assembly is characterized in that the plurality of screws (10) comprises at least two different screws and in that the propeller comprises at least one seat (30) for complete installation of at least one screw selected from the plurality of screws, and in that the at least one limit stop abutment comprises at least one region of at least one screw selected from the plurality of screws and installed in said seat provided in the propeller.
