Die Erfindung betrifft eine Verpackungseinrichtung für verdichtete Pressballen (25). Die Verpackungseinrichtung ist zur Aufbringung einer Ballenverpackung (32) auf dem Pressballen (25) ausgebildet und weist eine Transportvorrichtung (5) auf, welche zur Entnahme eines verdichteten Pressballens (25) aus einer Presse (3, 3') ausgebildet ist. Die Transportvorrichtung (5) weist eine bewegliche Ballenaufnahme (6) zur Aufnahme des verdichteten Pressballens (25) an zwei gegenüber liegenden Seiten auf, wobei die Ballenaufnahme an den zu haltenden Aufnahme des Pressballens vorgesehenen Bereichen jeweils mehrere zueinander beabstandete und längliche Tragelemente (20) aufweist.

A packaging apparatus for wrapping a carton around a packaged product comprises a box mandrel conveyor including a plurality of mandrels which support the packaged product thereon. Packages are precisely fed to the mandrels of the box mandrel conveyor by a conditioning conveyor. Carton blanks are delivered to a conveying system for a carton magazine and are conveyed in vertical confronting relation to a mandrel. Each mandrel moves the carton blank against a large radius plows device thereby causing the carton blank to be folded around a mandrel containing a package. Folding and compression devices are provided for folding and compressing an end panel against a manufacturer's flap. Suitable flap closing means close the end flaps and upper and lower flaps after the mandrel is withdrawn from the carton.

Methods and apparatus for wrapping products having different product profiles includes a conveyor (14, 18, 22) driven by a conveyor drive (34) transporting a product (26). A wrapping mechanism (46) includes a drive mechanism (74) moving a wrap support (86) about a wrapping mechanism axis (58) using a rotatable driver (62) and a carrier (78) extending between the driver (62) and the wrap support (86). In one preferred form, a slideable attachment between the driver (62) and the carrier (78) allows extension and retraction of the wrap support (86) according to the product profile of the product (26). In one preferred form, a guide (82) moves in an adjustable cam track (98) made up of multiple segments (102, 106) to define a path (94) of the wrap support (86). The cam track (98) corresponds to the product profile of the product (26) on the platform (30). One of the cam segments (102, 106) is separately removable to allow for adjustment of the cam track (98). The wrap support (86) engages a film (134) and wraps the film (134) around the product (26). In a preferred form, a sensor (118) detects the product (26) as it proceeds toward the conveyor (18). A tracking encoder (122) receives data from the sensor (118) and the conveyor drive (34) to track the position of the product (26). A controller (126) receives the information from the tracking encoder (122) and controls the wrapping mechanism (46) according to the wrapping profile to accommodate variable spacing of products (26). A graphical user interface (130) may be used to modify or create wrapping profiles.

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for wrapping bundles of printed matter by placing a folded film sheet around such bundles when these are conveyed to and through a wrapping situation. The apparatus includes a lower, through-going belt conveyor with mutually separated conveyor straps and a couple of overhead band conveyors in line with each other creating a transverse gap between them. Below the spaces between the lower conveyor straps and just below the gap a transverse row of compressed air nozzles directed upwards is arranged.

A sheet blank is delivered, between the first two stations (B, C), at right angles to the direction (A) of conveyance. The product (2) is pushed to the second station (C) using a slide (27) and a surface (20) moving partially therewith. The blank (7) is supported by being positioned against a face (34) and folded around the top and the bottom of the product (2). The preceding products (2) are simultaneously pushed on into the stations (C, D, E) using fingers (35, 54) of a comb-shaped conveyor (9). A longitudinally sealed seam is formed in the station (C) using sealing jaws (8). The surface closures are formed and sealed in the stations (D, E) which follow. The device has a simple structure and is easy to control.
