Abstract:
The invention relates to novel conjugated polymers containing one or more 5,6-difluoro-benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl units (hereinafter referred to as "FF-BTZ" units) and two or more different bridged bithiophene units, to methods for their preparation and educts or intermediates used therein, to polymer blends, mixtures and formulations containing them, to the use of the polymers, polymer blends, mixtures and formulations as organic semiconductors in, or for the preparation of, organic electronic (OE) devices, especially organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices and organic photodetectors (OPD), and to OE, OPV and OPD devices comprising, or being prepared from, these polymers, polymer blends, mixtures or formulations.
Abstract:
Described herein are a series of water-soluble conjugated polymers having redox mediators and functional groups on flexible side chains. The polymers may include a backbone having a conjugated polymer; a first side chain attached to the backbone, the first side chain having a ferrocene group or a derivative thereof; a second side chain attached to the backbone, the second side chain having an organic acid, a salt of an organic acid, or quaternary ammonium; and at least one of the first and second side chains having at least one of a carbon atom, a nitrogen atom, an oxygen atom, and a sulfur atom. Because of their redox activity, water solubility and ease of further coupling with versatile functional species, the polymers discussed in this application can be used as sensor interface materials for various biosensor developments.
Abstract:
A polymer comprising a repeat unit of formula (I): wherein R 1 in each occurrence is independently H or a substituent; R 2 in each occurrence is independently a substituent; and x is 0, 1, 2 or 3. The polymer may be used as a light- emitting polymer in an organic light-emitting device.
Abstract:
Described herein are associative polymers capable of controlling a physical and/or chemical property of non-polar compositions and related compositions, methods and systems. Associative polymers herein described have a non-polar backbone and functional groups presented at ends of the non-polar backbone, with a number of the functional groups presented at the ends of the non-polar backbone formed by associative functional groups capable of undergoing an associative interaction with another associative functional group with an association constant (k) such that the strength of each associative interaction is less than the strength of a covalent bond between atoms and in particular less than the strength of a covalent bond between backbone atoms.
Abstract:
Described herein are associative polymers capable of controlling drag reduction and/or flow rate enhancement alone or in combination with another one or more physical and/or chemical properties of non-polar compositions and related compositions, methods and systems.
Abstract:
Yellow electrochromic polymers (ECPs) are prepared that display a yellow neutral state and a highly transmissive oxidized state. The ECPs are copolymers where a dyad of dioxyhetereocyclic repeating units alternate with a monad of an aromatic repeating unit. An alternate yellow ECP has an oxidation potential of 450 mV or less and is an alternating copolymer of an acyclic dioxythiophene (AcDOT) or a propylene dioxythiophene (ProDOT) with an aromatic repeating unit that has an electron donating substituent. The yellow ECPs can be processed from solution for electrochromic devices.
Abstract:
Polymers exhibiting solubility, conjugation and microporosity are processable and useful for a variety of applications. The polymers comprise repeating units which are linked together to form rigid macromolecular structures which do not exhibit space-efficient packing. The polymers may comprise aromatic structures, e.g. fused aromatic structures and/or multiply bonded aromatic structures, and may comprise solubilising groups such as for example branched alkyl groups or siliyl groups.
