Methods are described for recovering certain unculturable bacteria into a culturable form. Bacteria that have been dried, dehydrated, or desiccated, in one example using spray drying, are more efficiently cultivated using media that contains humic acid, salts thereof, analogs thereof, or peat, than when using media that does not contain humic acid or related substances. When humic acid is present in media used in colony-forming-unit (CFU) assays of dried bacteria, higher titers of viable bacteria are obtained than when the same media that does not contain humic acid or related substances is used.

La présente invention concerne un nouveau milieu de culture des mycobactérîes, en particulier des mycobactérîes du complexe Mycobacterium tuberculosis , permettant de réduire de façon significative les délais d'isolement par culture et donc le délai de diagnostic des mycobactérioses, en particulier de la tuberculose. Un milieu de culture selon l'invention contient de la lécithine, un colorant rouge et du sérum d'agneau de préférence décomplémenté. La présente invention concerne également un procédé de culture et d'identification des mycobactérîes et, notamment, des bactéries du complexe Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Plus particulièrement encore, la présente invention concerne un nouveau procédé de décontamination, par traitement à la chlorhexidine, des prélèvements biologiques dans un dit nouveau milieu d'isolement et culture des mycobactérîes. La présente invention concerne également un procédé de détermination phénotypique de la sensibilité des Mycobactérîes aux antibiotiques à l'aide d'un milieu de culture solide selon l'invention.

Methods and kits for detection of bacteria, especially Salmonella spp . and Listeria spp ., are provided using a unique combination of selective ingredients and two-phase culture (solid-phase culture gel and liquid-phase culture/enrichment broth) allows for high sensitivity and specificity of the kits for growth of Salmonella and Listeria in the detection methods and kits. The invention, through the detection mechanism accomplished by the novel formulation of selective ingredients and the two-phase culture, allows for real-time detection of a single cell of Salmonella and Listeria within 24± 2 hours of introducing a target sample to the Salmonella and Listeria detection kits. The detection methods and kits for Salmonella may optionally further comprise a confirmation step that can increase sensitivity and accuracy for this pathogenic bacteria.

Meio para diagnostico laboratorial da leptospirose e vacina contra leptospirose animal, especialmente de um meio e vacina que utilizam um "pool" de cepas de leptospiras inativas (evitando que o operador seja colocado em risco), para diagnostico da doenca Leptospirose, em animais em geral (bovinos, suinos, equinos e caninos), bem como para diagnostico no Homem. O meio para diagnostico trabalha com leptospiras inativas, de modo que os testes possam ser realizados em campo, incluindo meios de cultura para a manutencao da bateria de cepas de leptospiras; para obtencao das suspensoes antigenica de leptospiras, ou seja, para a realizacao dos trabalhos, sao utilizados os sorovares de leptospiras, causadores da Leptospirose e de maior relevancia no Homem e nos animais bovinos, suinos, equinos e caninos; a vacina possui maior poder de imunogenicidade, a partir da obtengao de uma massa pura de leptospiras integras, sem a presenga de outras proteinas oriundas do proprio meio de cultura; a vacina contem 109 leptospiras por ml adicionada de adjuvante (Hidroxido de Aluminio); nestas condigoes, a vacina a ser obtida, podera dar uma protegao vacinal nos animais entre 9 a 12 meses contra a referida prevalencia entre os animais.

The present invention relates to novel method for the detection of microbial contaminants in plant tissue cultures by the use of chemical indicators which work independent of pH and temperature conditions in plant tissue cultures. These chemical indicators work at various ranges of concentrations and are able to detect microbial contaminants at the earliest possible period of time once the plant tissue cultures are incubated for the plant growth.

La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un milieu empirique acellulaire pour la culture d'une bactérie intracellulaire donnée, apte à être cultivée par culture cellulaire dans un type de cellule eucaryote donné, caractérisée en ce que ledit milieu empirique comprend une suspension aqueuse d'un lysat cellulaire constitué d'un jus cytoplasmique comprenant le contenu endoplasmique de dites cellules eucaryotes d'un type donné et des composants et résidus dudit lysat cellulaire en dispersion ou solubles dans le jus cytosolique, de préférence de tailles inférieure à 10 μm, de préférence encore inférieure à 5 μm.
