Abstract:
A fabric (14) for use on a paper machine includes a plurality of filaments (16) woven together. At least a portion of the filaments have a generally flat machine side base (18), a generally flat web side face (20), and a pair of generally flat side walls (22) extending between the base and the face. The portion of the filaments having a generally trapezoidal shaped cross section is defined by the base, the face and the pair of side walls.

Abstract:
A system and process for producing tissue webs is disclosed. The tissue webs (16) are formed from an aqueous suspension of fibers and dried using a through-air dryer (28). During formation of the web, the web is transferred from a transfer fabric (20) to a throughdrying fabric (24) and then conveyed around a drying cylinder (26) of a through-air dryer. In accordance with the present invention, a pressurized roll (50) emits a gaseous stream through a pressurized zone (52) that pushes and transfers a wet web from a transfer fabric to the throughdrying fabric. The amount of pressure used during the transfer can vary depending upon the particular application and may be used to control the bulk of the web. By using a pressurized transfer roll, the amount the throughdrying fabric is wrapped around the drying cylinder of the through-air dryer can be maximized for increasing the efficiency of the system and the process.
Abstract:
A drying section for drying a web in a papermaking machine has a pre-drying section and a final drying section, wherein the pre-drying section includes a hot press formed by a first press member and a rotatable counter roll in engagement with each other so as to form a nip therebetween through which the web passes. The hot press further includes a heating device disposed in heat-transfer relation to the counter roll and operable to heat a surface region of the counter roll which then passes through the nip so as to heat the web therein, and an imprinting fabric arranged in an endless loop, the imprinting fabric defining an imprinting surface for imprinting the web and being arranged to pass through the nip of the hot press with the web against the imprinting surface such that the web is imprinted. The imprinting fabric continues to support the imprinted web downstream of the hot press at least up to the final drying section.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for treating web-type textiles, nonwovens or paper in a continuous stream, using a gaseous treatment agent that circulates in the device. The product lies on the exterior face of a permeable drum (5), which is subjected to an induced draught and has two base sections (11, 12) on its front face, more precisely on a sieve-type or perforated surface (9), which covers the drum structure. A perforated drum jacket (15), whose edges are merely clipped into the two base sections (11, 12) extends between said base sections (11, 12). To achieve this, an annular groove (17) is machined into the base sections (11, 12). The edge of the sheet metal (15) and a ring-shaped clip segment (23) are inserted into said groove and are retained there by means of screws.
Abstract:
Drying section in a machine for the production of a continuous tissue paper web (22), including a pre-drying section having at least one press (1) that includes a first press device (3, 10), and a counter roll (4), being arranged to form a press nip (5) there between, and an endless paper machinery fabric (12) arranged to pass through the press nip (5) together with said web. The press is a hot press (1) having an external heating element (8) arranged to heat a surface section of the counter roll (4). The fabric (12) has a permeable coarse open structure, which defines a surface pattern that will be imprinted into the tissue web (22), and the fabric (12) extends at least to a final drying section for carrying the imprinted web to the final drying section without impairing the structure of the imprinted and pre-dried tissue web.
Abstract:
A throughdrying process and system for the manufacture of a tissue web conveys a fibrous web of cellulose fibers through a throughair drying station that includes one or more throughair dryers. The throughair drying station is supplied with a heated drying medium from a source. After drying the web, the drying medium is conducted away from the throughair drying station as moisture laden exhaust air that is collected, dried, and at least partially recirculated back to the throughair drying station as a supplement to the source of heated drying medium, thereby reducing the load on the heated drying medium source.
Abstract:
A paper web drying apparatus (10) and process is provided in which the heated air drying medium is replaced with between 10 percent to 100 percent of live steam (82). The addition of a steam component to the drying medium provides for a higher drying temperature to be supplied to the wet moving web (38). The introduction of live pressurized steam (82) contributes to the load of force of the drying medium, thereby decreasing the energy requirements of blower motors. The introduction of pressurized live steam (82) also lowers the free atmospheric oxygen content of the drying medium which reduces the burning or scorch hazard associated with high temperature drying of a cellulose web.
