The extended nip roll (2) has a flexible jacket (4) and a support body (5) inside the flexible jacket (4). The extended nip (2) roll also has internal means for causing the support body (5) to move or expand radially towards an inner surface (6) of the flexible jacket (4) to form a nip with the counter roll. The rolls (2, 3) have axial ends (7, 8, 10, 11) that are supported in bearing housings (9, 12). One or several actuators (13) such as hydraulic cylinders connects bearing housings (9, 12) to each other and the actuator or actuators (13) are arranged to act on the bearing housings (9, 12) to cause them to move to each other in a closing movement. A mechanical stop (14) which is separate from the rolls (2,3) is arranged to halt the closing movement. The invention also relates to a machine that uses the press device and to a method of operating the press device.
Abstract:
The inventive idea is to make the rotating elements or rolls in a tissue papermaking machine with a reduced weight comparing to the conventional rolls made of steel. In this manner the rolls create less vibrations and allow sufficiently increase of the operation speed and productivity of the entire machine, or reduce the machine dimension for a given operation speed comparing to the conventional solutions. The invention is applicable to rebuilds of the existing machines and for new high-speed installations.

Abstract:
An apparatus for winding an advancing web onto a reel shaft and separating the continuous web from a fully wound reel once completed. The apparatus includes a plurality of nozzles supported in a spaced arrangement in the cross-machine direction. The nozzles are connected to adhesive or fluid supplies and are actuated in the cross-machine direction while dispensing the adhesive or fluid. Coupling of the machine direction advancement of the paper web with the cross-machine direction movement of the nozzles results in a saw toothed severing or adhesive pattern on the web. The nozzles may be individually actuated in sequence or may be actuated simultaneously, such as by attachment to a single member movable by an actuator. Drip guards may be positioned at the beginning and end of the path of each of the nozzles so as to intercept drips of water or adhesive before they fall onto the paper web.
