An oxygen carrier (OC) for use in Chemical Looping technology with Oxygen Uncoupling (CLOU) for the combustion of carbonaceous fuels, in which commercial grade metal oxides selected from the group consisting of Cu, Mn, and Co oxides and mixtures thereof constitute a primary oxygen carrier component. The oxygen carrier contains, at least, a secondary oxygen carrier component which is comprised by low-value industrial materials which already contain metal oxides selected from the group consisting of Cu, Mn, Co, Fe, Ni oxides or mixtures thereof. The secondary oxygen carrier component has a minimum oxygen carrying capacity of 1 g of O 2 per 100 g material in chemical looping reactions. Methods for the manufacture of the OC are also disclosed.

The disclosure relates to the oxidation and immobilization of trivalent arsenic from arsenic-containing solutions. The process includes oxidation of trivalent arsenic (As 3+ ) species to the pentavalent state (As 5+ ). A carbon additive (e.g., activated carbon) and oxygen are used to promote the arsenic oxidation processes. After oxidation of arsenic to the pentavalent state, the arsenic can be removed by precipitation to ferric arsenate or calcium arsenate or other arsenic containing compounds known in the art. The oxidation of arsenic can also occur simultaneously with the production and precipitation of ferric arsenate (e.g., scorodite). Ferrous iron can be oxidized to ferric iron in the presence of activated carbon and oxygen.

Ferrite powder is provided which comprises W-type ferrite phase for developing high magnetic characteristics. The ferrite powder according to the present invention is characterized by comprising a laminar structure exhibiting a state where W-type ferrite phases are laminated in an easy direction of magnetization, the W-type ferrite phases comprising a compound expressed by AM 2 Fe 16 O 27 , where A, M, Fe, and O represent a first metal element (Sr, Ba, Ca, Pb, etc), a second metal element (Fe, Zn, Cu, Co, Mn, Ni, etc), iron, and oxygen, respectively. This ferrite particle is obtained through: a shape forming step that shapes a mixed powder in a magnetic field to obtain a compact, the mixed powder comprising for example an M-type ferrite particle comprising a compound expressed by AFe 12 O 19 and a spinel-type ferrite particle (S-type ferrite particle) comprising a compound expressed by MFe 2 O 4 ; a calcination step that calcines the compact to obtain a calcined substance; and a milling step that mills the calcined substance.

A method of making Y-type hexagonal ferrite and an antenna using the same are provided. Y-type hexagonal ferrite includes a base ferrite composed of iron oxide, barium carbonate and cobalt oxide, and silicate glass ranging from 0.5 to 5 weight percent added to 100 weight percent of base ferrite. An antenna apparatus includes a magnetic carrier and an antenna pattern formed thereon. The magnetic carrier is formed of such Y-type hexagonal ferrite, and the antenna pattern resonates in a specific frequency band when electric power is supplied. To fabricate the Y-type hexagonal ferrite, a calcination process is performed in which iron oxide, barium carbonate and cobalt oxide are combined into base ferrite at a given calcination temperature after being mixed. A sintering process is performed to sinter the base ferrite and the silicate glass at a given sintering temperature which is lower than the calcination temperature after adding the silicate glass to the base ferrite.
