Methods and apparatuses for applying coatings on a baggy web are provided. A Mayer rod and a back-up roll engage with each other to form a nip. The back-up roll has a deformable inner layer with a surface thereof covered by a deformable outer layer. The Mayer rod and the flexible web at a contacting area are impressed into the back-up roll with a machine-direction nip width W and a nip engagement depth D, which enables formation of a coating having a substantially uniform thickness.

A Sensor signal is generated from a plurality of sensors located on a sensing roll, wherein each sensor enters a nip between the sensing roll and a rotating component during each rotation of the sensing roll. A rotating applicator rod forms forming a second nip with the sensing roll such that each sensor enters the second nip during each rotation of the sensing roil and each sensor generates a sensor signal upon entering the second nip. A periodically occurring starting reference is generated associated with each rotation of the applicator rod and the signal generated by each sensor is received so that a particular one of the sensors which generated the signal is determined and one of a plurality of tracking segments is identified. The signal is stored to associate the sensor signal with the identified one tracking segment.

Eine Filmpresse zur Veredelung einer Faserstoffbahn (4), insbesondere einer Papier- oder Kartonbahn, umfasst eine Walze (1) und eine mit der Walze (1) einen Walzenspalt (3) bildenden Gegenwalze (2) und zumindest einem an der Walze (1) und/oder an der Gegenwalze (2) in Anlage bringbaren Rakelstab (5, 6) zum Aufbringen eines flüssigen oder pastösen Mediums auf die Walze (1) und/oder die Gegenwalze (2) zum Übertrag des Mediums auf die Faserstoffbahn (4). Die Walze (1) und die Gegenwalze (2) weisen jeweils einen Walzenkern und einen den Walzenkern umgebenden Walzenbezug (7, 8) auf. Zumindest in dem Walzenbezug (7) der Walze (1) und/oder zwischen Walzenkern und Walzenbezug (7) der Walze (1) und/oder in dem Walzenbezug (8) der Gegenwalze (2) und/oder zwischen Walzenkern und Walzenbezug (8) der Gegenwalze (2) ist ein Sensorsystem (9) angeordnet, welches zumindest eine Glasfaser (10) aufweist, in welche Bragg-Gitter (11) eingeschrieben sind. Mittels des Sensorsystems (9) ist ein Bahnablösepunkt der Faserstoffbahn (4) von der Walze (1) und/oder der Gegenwalze (2) nach Durchlaufen des Walzenspaltes (3) und Übertrag des Mediums bestimmbar und der Bahnablösepunkt unter Verwendung der ermittelten Messwerte regelbar.

The invention also relates to a coated paper or board product, onto which the said composition has been spread on one or both sides into one or more layers; as well as to paint that is formed of the coating composition according to the invention, or that contains the said composition.

A manufacturing device and preparation method for cigarette paper having flame-retarding stripes. The device comprises a first coating press roll and a second coating press roll, the first coating press roll and the second coating press roll being in contact with and parallel to each other and having opposite axial rotary directions. The cigarette paper passes through at the position where the first coating press roll and the second coating press roll come into contact. A feeding tube is provided at the outside of the first coating press roll and/or the second coating press roll. The feeding tube is provided with multiple feeding nozzles. The method comprises first applying on the surface of the raw paper of the cigarette paper a coating of diffusion-resistant, permeation-resistant coating material such as oxidized starch or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose so as to reduce wrinkles during flame-retarding stripe printing, and then printing flame retardant on one or both sides thereon.

본 발명은 코팅지의 괘선 터짐(fold crack) 현상을 개선하기 위하여 종이 코팅층의 스티렌-부타디엔 라텍스 분포를 조절한 코팅 구조를 갖는 코팅지 및 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 유리전이온도와 입자크기가 상이한 스티렌-부타디엔 공중합체 라텍스를 종이 코팅층의 특정 영역에 각각 분포시킴으로써 코팅지의 괘선 터짐이 현저하게 감소한 코팅지 및 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서 제시하는 종이 코팅 구조는 입자크기가 70 내지 120 nm, 유리전이온도가 10 내지 30 ℃인 라텍스를 원지쪽 코팅층에 분포시키고, 입자크기가 120 내지 200 nm, 유리전이온도가 -30 내지 0 ℃인 라텍스를 바깥쪽 코팅층에 분포시킴으로써 얻어지는 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기와 같이 다른 종류의 라텍스를 2개의 코팅층에 나누어 적용시 기존의 일반적인 코팅지에 비하여 종이 강직도(stiffness)와 괘선 터짐 현상이 크게 개선되는 효과를 얻을 수 있다.

Also, a paper surface sizing system for carrying out this method.
