A tool (10) to aid in angularly orienting a threaded insert (53) relative to an exposed surface, the tool (10) comprising: an elongated stem (12) having a longitudinal axis (X), the stem (12) having first and second longitudinally opposite ends (14, 6); a handle (18) located at the first end; a first threaded length (20) located at the second end (16), the first threaded length being threadably engageable with the insert (53); a second threaded length (22) having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the first threaded length, said second threaded length (22) being located longitudinally between the handle (18) and the first threaded length (20); and a collar (26) having an internal threaded hole threadably engaged with said second threaded length (22) so that relative angular movement between the stem (12) and the collar (26) moves the collar (26) longitudinally, the collar (26) having an abutment portion located on a plane extending generally perpendicular to the surface when the axis is generally perpendicular to the surface.

Alignment apparatus (10) usable to confirm or establish correct spacing of water supply pipes (12). The apparatus (10) comprises two spaced sleeves (16) of part circular channel which are a snap fit on the pipes (12). The sleeves (16) turn through (90°) with the pipes (12) and are spaced apart at a required spacing by a base plate (18) which includes a plurality of mounting holes (20).

Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass die Montageplatte eine rechteckförmige Grundplatte (1) umfasst, von der Umfangsbereiche (2) zumindest teilweise an zumindest zwei, insbesondere einander gegenüberliegenden, vorzugsweise an allen, Seiten in dieselbe Richtung abgebogen sind, dass die Randkanten (3) der abgebogenen Randbereiche (2) von der Plattenoberfläche denselben Normalabstand (N) aufweisen, und dass von der Grundplatte (1) und/oder den abgebogenen Randbereichen (2) Befestigungselemente (4) abgehen.

A device (100) for aligning plumbing fittings is disclosed, the device comprising a bar (102) having end portions (104) and a centre portion (106). Sockets (108) are provided at each end of the bar (102), the sockets (108) having bores (110) therein. Shafts (122) can be pushed into the bores (110). The shafts (122) have threaded sections (126) which are compatible with the threading of the fittings. The shafts and sockets have splines (112, 134) respectively. A spirit level (120) is carried by the bar (102) and rods (116) are tight fits in transverse bores (114) in the bar (102). The device is usable to position a pair of plumbing fittings on which a mixer tap is to be mounted.
