Abstract:
A stay-in-place form-work for casting a concrete structure comprises a plurality of elongate panels interconnectable in edge-to-edge relationship via complementary connector components on their longitudinal edges to define at least a portion of a perimeter of the form-work. The panels include a first panel having a first connector component incorporating a receptacle, and a second panel having a second connector component incorporating a protrusion. The first and second panels are connectable to one another in edge-to-edge relationship by: effecting a loose-fit connection by extending the protrusion of the second connector component into the receptacle of the first connector component; loosely seating a clip onto the first and second connector components; and pushing the clip against the first and second connector components to reach a locked configuration wherein restorative deformation forces associated with the clip act to retain the first and second connector components in the locked configuration.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of handling and joining at least two sectional steel elements together to form a load-bearing beam element, preferably for interaction with a separately-formed post footing, a beam element made from at least two sectional steel elements, and a beam element/post footing combination. The invention is characterised in that detached angle section elements (1a, 1b) are joined together to form a hollow sectional beam (1), and that at least one sleeve plate (2) is externally attached around the hollow sectional beam (1) thus obtained and is locked to this forming stops for receiving preferably board-shaped elements (5).
Abstract:
A frameless enclosure assembly, supported by the structural assembly (12) of a pre-engineered building (10) having first and second support members (4, 24) comprising a flexible membrane; (44) a membrane attaching assembly (60) attaching a first end (46) of the facing membrane to the first support member, (14) and attaching a second end (48) of the facing membrane to the second support member (24) and extending the facing membrane substantially taut therebetween; an insulation layer of compressible insulation material (54) supported by the facing membrane; a panel member (28) positioned substantially parallel to the insulation layer (54) to dispose same between the panel (28) member and underlaying structural assembly; (12) and a panel securing assembly for securing the panel (28) to the structural assembly (12) and transferring load from the panel member to the structural assembly (12) while the insulation layer substantially uniformly retains its resistance to heat transfer.
Abstract:
An expandable downhole tool for use in an oil well, including a flexible member (10, 1 10, 210, 310) rolled into a helix and having first and second lateral edges (12, 14, 112, 114, 212, 214, 312, 314) on opposing lateral ends of the member (10, 1 10, 210, 310). The flexible member (10, 1 10, 210, 310) is selectively changeable between a compressed configuration wherein the transverse cross-section of the flexible member (10, 110, 210, 310) has a first diameter (D1), and an expanded configuration wherein the transverse cross-section of the flexible member (10, 110, 210, 310) has a second diameter (D2), the second diameter (D2) larger than the first diameter (D1).
Abstract:
Precision-folded, high strength, fatigue-resistant structures and a sheet therefore are disclosed. To form the structures, methods for precision bending of a sheet of material along a bend line and a sheet of material formed with bending strap-defining structures, such as slits or grooves, are disclosed. Methods include steps of designing and then separately forming longitudinally extending slits or grooves through the sheet of material in axially spaced relation to produce precise bending of the sheet when bent along the bend line. The bending straps have a configuration and orientation which increases their strength and fatigue resistance, and most preferably slits or arcs are used which causes edges to be engaged and supported on faces of the sheet material on opposite sides of the slits or arcs. The edge-to-face contact produces bending along a virtual fulcrum position in superimposed relation to the bend line. Several slit embodiments suitable for producing edge-to-face engagement support and precise bending are disclosed. With these teachings, forming numerous three-dimensional load-bearing structures from a two dimensional sheet are enabled. Examples of straight and curved beams, chassis, and exoskeletons are disclosed.

Abstract:
A system and method of manufacture providing reinforced structurally functional load-bearing members, including but not limited to using thermoplastic materials, such as High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), reinforced such as with an aluminum alloy or carbon fiber core element. Among its possible uses, the present invention has application for provision of structural support members, such as an illustrative I joist product having a vertical center member preferably comprising HDPE, and top and bottom flanges having structurally meaningful reinforcement. The center member and flanges prefera+y comprising HDPE provides a relatively hard, durable, substantially weather-resistant structure.
