Abstract:
A motorized window shade includes a head rail, a bottom part suspended from the head rail, and a covering structure arranged between the head rail and the bottom part. An electric motor is arranged in the head rail and is operable to drive a vertical displacement of the bottom part. The window shade further includes a control interface electrically connected with the electric motor, and suspended outward from the head rail. The control interface is operable to control rotation of the electric motor for raising and lowering the bottom part. An elongated tube may further be disposed outside the head rail. The elongated tube has an upper end connected with the head rail, and the control interface is assembled adjacent to a lower end of the elongated tube.
Abstract:
A covering for an architectural opening is provided. The covering may include a roller rotatable about a longitudinal axis, a shade associated with the roller, and an operating system operably associated with the roller. The operating system may include a base, a drive mechanism, a transmission, an actuator arm, and an engagement arm. The drive mechanism may be associated with the base to provide an input torque. The transmission may be associated with the drive mechanism to selectively transmit the input torque to the roller. The actuator arm may be associated with the base to indirectly set a rotation direction of the roller. The engagement arm may be associated with the base and engagable with the transmission.

Abstract:
An actuator device is provided for use in a view-through window covering having a plurality of cells. The actuator device includes at least one cooperating pair of control members including a first control member that engages an upper portion of each cell and a second control member that engages a lower portion of each cell. The cooperating pair of control members are engaged with the cells along a plane parallel to the plane of the window covering, whereby relative movement of the control members modifies the size of the space between the cells. A cell and method of manufacturing a cell for a multi-cell window covering is also disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a flexible material, stiffening a portion of the flexible material, and creating at least one control engagement formation and at least one control clearance formation in axially extending sections of the stiffened flexible material that will become an upper portion and a lower portion of the cell. The method is further defined by folding the flexible material to create a closed element and securing the flexible material to itself to maintain the shape of the closed element.
Abstract:
A security blind comprises a plurality of rotatable blades (5) mounted in parallel in a primary frame (1-4), which is mounted in a secondary frame (30) by means of mountings each incorporating a deformable element (32) which deforms to absorb energy when a blast wave strikes the blind. The secondary frame (30) is secured in a window opening. In another aspect of the invention, a security blind comprises a plurality of rotatable blades (5) mounted in parallel in a frame, wherein each blade is mounted in the frame with a deformable element (9) between the blade mounting (10-12) and the frame such that distortion of the blade (5) by a blast wave striking the blade causes deformation of the deformable element, thereby absorbing energy.
Abstract:
A covering for an architectural opening is provided. The covering may include a head rail, a first roller rotatably supported by the head rail, a second roller rotatably supported by the head rail, a first shade attached to the first roller, and a second shade attached to the second roller. The second roller may be positioned rearward of the first roller. The first shade may be wrappable about the first roller. The first shade may include two laterally-separable sheets interconnected by a plurality of vertically-spaced vanes. The second shade may be wrappable about the second roller.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a temporary window shade that may include an elongated cover having a top end and a bottom end, and that may be adapted to be oriented in a retracted position, an extended position, and a plurality of intermediate positions. The temporary window shade may also include a top rail that may be attached to the top end of the elongated cover, a cord having a first end that may be connected to the top rail, and a bottom rail that may be attached to the bottom end of the elongated cover. The bottom rail may have a slot disposed through a surface of the bottom rail, and the slot may be adapted to receive the cord. At least a portion of the slot may have a width less than the thickness of the cord such that the slot may engage the cord to support the weight of the bottom rail and an accumulated portion of the elongated cover when the cord is engaged by the at least a portion of the slot.
