A rail for an architectural covering is provided. The rail may be associated with a shade material of a covering. An adjustment device may be positioned at least partially within the rail. A plurality of lift cords may be associated with the adjustment device. The adjustment device may adjust an effective length of each of the lift cords to adjust a position of the rail within an architectural opening.
Abstract:
An architectural covering with an operable vane having a fabric backing is provided. The vane may include a vane fabric and a backing material connected to the vane fabric by a layer of adhesive. The backing material may increase a machine-direction stiffness of the vane while slightly affecting a cross-direction stiffness of the vane. As such, the vane may have increased stiffness in its machine direction while simultaneously remaining flexible in its cross direction.
Abstract:
A high efficiency daylight directing structure for application on fenestration deploys closely spaced macroscopic bars of transparent resin to eliminate different forms of glare. The spaced apart surfaces provide for efficient reflection of selective incident light, by TIR or metallic surfaces, via the ultra-smooth native surfaces from a mold or casting process. A close spacing is readily obtained in various attachment methods to boost efficiency. The fabrication method allows selective deposition of absorbing layers, such as by of painting/printing between alternating native optical surface to provide one way transparency at high angles of incidence. The bars are supported on at least one common planar surface by transparent support member with an optical quality adhesive material filling any imperfection in the bars common planar surface that form in fabrication.

A cutter tool for cutting the innermost cell of two concentric cells as found in cell-in-cell coverings for architectural openings includes an elongated main body with lateral side extensions defining a space into which an inner cell of a dual cell can pass. Within that space, cutting blades are positioned along opposite sides of the main body of the tool so that relative movement of the tool along a dual cell cuts the inner cell along opposite sides thereof without damaging an outer concentric cell so that an anchor bar can be positioned within the dual cell in engagement with the outer cell for connecting the outer cell to an upper rail or bottom rail of the covering.
Abstract:
A compression mount assembly is provided for securing a window covering to a window frame by compression forces between vertical sides of the window frame on opposite sides of the window. A housing is coupled to the window covering and a slide translates linearly within a cavity in the housing away from the housing to abut the side of the window frame. A driver, such as a spring, is located between the slide and the housing to urge the slide away from the housing. A trigger is optionally provided which holds the slide adjacent the housing, until the trigger is activated by pushing a button to release the slide from the housing and allow the slide to translate away from the housing. A fixed end cap is provided for an end of the window covering opposite the compression mount assembly and for abutting against an opposite side of the window frame.

A cutdown machine (30) and method are disclosed. The cutdown apparatus (30) preferably includes a pair of cutting assemblies (42, 44) for simultaneously cutting the ends of a window covering (10). Additionally, a calculation apparatus (48) and method for use in conjunction with the cutdown machine (30) are also disclosed. The calculation apparatus (48) may be a stand alone unit, or preferably integrated into the cutdown machine (30). The calculation apparatus (48) preferably calculates and automatically positions a stop element (52) in the cutdown machine (30), in connection with desired end window covering dimensions and related stock window covering sizes.
