A method for manufacturing a catheter member having at least one lumen is disclosed herein. The method includes, winding a sacrificial coil (1 10) over a mandrel (102) in a first direction and winding a reinforcement coil (120) over the sacrificial coil in a second direction. A polymer is then laminated over the sacrificial coil and the reinforcement coil. After the polymer is laminated, the mandrel is removed and the sacrificial coil is removed to thereby form the catheter member having the lumen.

Um einen zuverlässigen Betrieb und einen Knickschutz des Zuführschlauches zu gewährleisten ist dieser gebildet aus einem Innenschlauch (24) der in einem aufgespritzten Schlauchmantel (22) eingebettet ist. Durch diese Maßnahme ist zum einen die Integration des Zuführschlauchs (14) in das Schlauchpaket (10) problemlos möglich. Darüber hinaus ist die Gefahr eines Knickens des Zuführschlauchs (14) gering gehalten.

A flexible tubing (10) for fine bubble aeration is provided with an air passageway (20) defined in part by an upper portion (12) and a lower portion (14) . The tubing can be made of a uniform weighted material with more material in the lower portion than in the upper portion. This makes the tubing self-orienting, in that it will tend to orient itself with micro-slits (22) along the upper portion facing upward and the lower portion facing downward when submerged in a body of water. An automated, one-stage production line converts raw tubing material to a finished tubing product without the need for separate processing. A method of coiling the tubing places the micro-slits approximately 90° away from the surface of a spool hub, thereby avoiding a longitudinal arch in the tubing and ultimately preventing roll-over and improper slit orientation after installation in a water body.

An improved peristaltic pump using a pumptube comprising an inner tube and an outer tube each of rigid fluoroplastic material, preferably polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), is provided. The pumping section of the pumptube which contacts the pressure rollers of the peristaltic pump is preformed or shaped into a flattened, oval-like shape which approximately conforms to the pumptube passageway in the peristaltic pump. The pressure rollers contact and compress the flattened side of the pumptube and, thereby, effect the transport or pumping of the fluid. Methods for preparing the pumptubes of this invention are also provided. Corrosive, hot, and/or high pressure fluids can be readily handled using the improved pumtubes and peristaltic pumps provided.
