Abstract: A projectile launch opening is submersed in water, a projectile ejector ejects the projectile from the projectile launch opening, and a gaseous cavity ejector ejects a gas to form a gaseous launch cavity covering the launch opening, synchronized with the projectile ejection, such that a leading surface of the projectile initially impacts the water at an inner surface of the gaseous launch cavity spaced above the launch opening, at an impact velocity initiating a supercavitation, the supercavitation substantially encapsulating the entire projectile within the water.

Abstract: Ракетный комплекс относится к системам береговой обороны и может быть использовано для нанесения ракетного удара (одиночного или залпа) по кораблям (соединениям кораблей), подводным лодкам и летательным аппаратам при защите побережья. В военное время - для охраны заданного квадрата акватории океана, при блокировании движения в морских проливах, перешейках и/или при организации морской блокады побережья противника. Комплекс выполнен с возможностью донного базирования и обладает повышенной живучестью за счет уменьшение оптической видимости места его дислокации и применения пассивных средств обнаружения и наведения ракет. Пассивные средства обнаружения установлены на самоподъемном буе в герметичном радио и звукопрозрачном корпусе. Для противодиверсионной защиты комплекс снабжен подводными многоствольными реактивными гранатометами с сонаром.

Abstract: A supercavitating underwater projectile (10) adapted to be fired from a gun or the like, comprising a front end or nose portion (12) and a rear end portion (18). An auxilary rocket motor is disposed within the rear end portion (18) of the projectile (10) for providing additional thrust after the projectile (10) has been fired. Vents (28) are disposed within the projectile (10) and are in communication with the rocket motor and the exterior of the projectile (10) for venting some of the combustion gases from the rocket motor to the exterior of the projectile (10) near the nose portion (12) thereof to increase the size of the cavitation bubble formed as the projectile (10) travels through the water and thereby reduce hydrodynamic drag on the projectile.
