Abstract:
A garment inspection system uses a digital measuring tape measure to measure and check dimensions of produced garments. The measured dimensions are transmitted to a computer via a wireless radio frequency connection between the digital tape measure and the computer. A software program is installed in the computer in a stand-alone or networked environment to read, store, analyze and manage the data and inspection results.
Abstract:
A measuring device having a tape for taking angle and length measurements, and capable of providing a user discernible indication of the angular orientation of its tape relative in any given extended measuring state relative to a predetermined orientation, for example, the horizontal. The measuring device preferably is capable of reading out one or more measurements associated with any given extented measuring state, and transmitting them to a remote device. The measuring device preferably has one or more finger depressible soft feature keys each programmable with a user specified function downloaded from a host computer.
Abstract:
A measuring device (10) having two measuring tapes (14, 20) held on separate reels (26, 30) in a housing (12). The housing (12) has two windows (32, 34) for displaying measurement indicia appearing on each tape. The tapes (14, 20) are spring biased toward a fully wound condition. Each tape has a button controlled clutch (28, 44) locking each respective tape in an extended condition. A user draws a first tape (14) around her torso just below the breasts, connects the tape to the end of the second tape (20) at the housing (12), and locks the tape in place. The device is then moved upwardly, now encircling the breasts, and the second tape (20) is extended to accommodate the additional girth and locked in place. The device is then removed and sizes are displayed in the windows (32, 34). The first tape (14) measures and indicates the rib cage girth, and the second tape (20) converts the additional measurement to cup size.
Abstract:
A tape measure includes a spool, a housing defining an opening, where the spool is rotatably coupled to the housing, and a blade including a first end and a second end, where the first end is connected to the spool and the second end is movable through the opening between a retracted position and an extended position. The manually retractable tape measure further includes a cleaning assembly positioned within the housing adjacent the opening such that the cleaning assembly is in contact with the blade to push away debris from the blade as the blade moves between the retracted position and the extended position.
Abstract:
A measuring tape housed within an ergonomically configured housing with a spirally wound spring motor is disclosed which facilitates the paying out and retraction of the flexible metal blade carrying the measuring indicia thereon.

Abstract:
A tape measure (11) having a first plate (13), a second plate (15), and a spool assembly is positioned between the first and second plates. In one embodiment, the first plate includes a central hub (17) and a plurality of upright posts (25), the combination being integrally formed from a single piece of elastomeric material. In one embodiment, the spool assembly includes a spiral spring (53), a tape (51), a spring-retaining disc (31) having a central hole (35) and an upright intermediate wall (41) with a slot opening (47), an upper disc (33), and a connector (55). In an assembled state, one end of the spiral spring engages the hub, while the other end of the spiral spring engages one end of the connector. The other end of the connector extends through the upright intermediate wall slot opening and engages the tape and passage back therethrough is prohibited.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system for determining the height of a tripod-mounted geodetic tool using a reference area. Said system comprises a spacer element (20) to be mounted on the tripod (25) and means (2) for linear measurement which are to be applied on the spacer element (20). A scale is disposed on the means (2) in such a manner as to directly indicate the height (h) of the tool (28). The means are preferably configured as a tape measure (2) or a plumb bar (1'). The invention provides a means for measuring the height of the tool outside the plumb line (32) with a sufficient amount of exactness and without substantial additional costs and/or effort.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A tape measure (10) includes a housing (12)- that includes a frame (14) and a mouthpiece body (40) moveable mounted to the frame. The mouthpiece body includes a tape exit port (52) that is moveable, advantageously rotatably, and may include an external recess (50) aligned with the exit port. A measuring tape (80) is supported by the housing and selectively deployable from the housing via the exit port. The movable exit port may allow the tape to enter the housing along a line that is tangent' to the coil of tape (72) rotatably supported by the housing. This tangency is advantageously maintained as the size of the coil changes due to the amount of tape therein. Other aspects and methods are also disclosed.
