A method for manufacturing a thin layer chromatography ("TLC") plate (100) is disclosed. The method includes forming a catalyst layer (104) disposed on a substrate that includes a first portion and at least a second portion, each of the first and at least a second portions exhibiting a selected non-linear configuration. The method also includes forming a layer of elongated nanostructures (e.g. carbon nanotubes), and at least partially coating the elongated nanostructures with a coating. The coating includes a stationary phase and/or precursor of a stationary phase for use in chromatography. The stationary phase is functionalized with hydroxyl groups by exposure to acidified water vapor or immersion in a concentrated acid liquid bath (e.g. HCI and methanol). At least a portion of the elongated nanostructures are removed after being coated.

A multi-column liquid chromatography system (10) for performing a plurality of liquid chromatography separations in parallel is based on a column plate structure (12) having parallel grooves (20) formed in a surface (22) of a plate (18), a cover sheet (40) bonded to the surface (22) to cover the grooves (20) and a stationary phase (38) contained in each covered groove (20). Through holes (24, 26) in the plate (18) define respective inlets (24) for the chromatography columns (14) and flow cells (16) at outlets, with the cover sheet (40) providing an optically transparent end wall for the flow cells (16) and another cover sheet (42) bonded to the opposite surface (30) of the plate (18) providing the other optically transparent end wall for the flow cells (16). Thus merely three parts need be provided for a structure for providing the chromatography columns, that is, a plate having grooves and through holes plus two cover sheets. The device permits trapping of a first analyte while permitting passage of other analytes, followed by trapping of a second and subsequent analytes in an orderly series. Each analyte is trapped sequentially by a different chromatographic media. The process allows detection and/or measurement of each analyte without interference from other analytes previously trapped, enabling assays of analytes in a compact device without elution of analytes from the device. The compact device is pre-assembled and ready to use in a point of care or non-laboratory setting.

The present invention discloses an immunochromatography kit containing an immunochromatographic strip therein for immunoassay and a manufacturing method of the kit. The disclosed kit contains an immunochromatographic strip, a cover, and a bottom plate which is attached to the bottom side of the cover to enclose an immunochromatographic strip housing. The cover comprises: the immunochromatographic strip housing; a funnel-shaped inlet port which is located on the upper side of a sample pad that is connected to a sample pad housing unit and which channels a liquid sample to the detection pad for analysis; and one or more holes which are located on the upper side of an absorption pad to be connected to an absorption pad housing unit. The transparent plastic immunochromatographic strip housing comprises: the sample pad housing unit on one end of the immunochromatographic strip to contain the sample pad and a conjugate pad; the absorption pad housing unit on the other end of the immunochromatographic strip; and a signal detection pad housing unit between the sample pad housing unit and absorption pad housing unit.

An immune chromatographic strip disc for multiple analysis comprises: a base of disc, a lid engaged to the base, and a drainage plate disposed between test strips on the base and the lid of disc. An application opening is formed in the lid of strip disc, is opposite to the drainage plate, and communicates with a drainage groove formed by a plurality of drainage channels placed on underside of the lid. Supports of test strips are positioned on the base corresponding to the position and number of the plurality of drainage channels on lid. The edge of the drainage plate overlaps the sample pad of the test strip adjacent to the application opening, wherein the test strip is placed on the support of test strip. The present invention also provides a multiple immune chromatographic method by using the strip disc, through which multiple analytes in a sample can be detected simultaneously in an assay.
