    摘要: An electronic device may have a flexible portion that allows the device to be folded. The device may have a flexible display. The flexible display may have a flexible display layer, a cover layer, a touch sensor interposed between the flexible display layer and the cover layer, a support layer, and a polarizer layer. The polarizer layer may be interposed between the touch sensor and the flexible display or between the touch sensor and the cover layer. The touch sensor may include optically clear adhesive that is flexible and facilitates bending of the display. The optically clear adhesive may include additives such as water vapor penetration reducing additive, anticorrosion additive, ultraviolet-light blocking additive, and index-of -refraction adjustment additive. The support layer may be formed from shape memory alloy or amorphous metal and may have openings to facilitate bending.

    摘要: A method for initiating fingerprint capture in an electronic device is described. The device includes a touch screen with a sensing region, a touch controller, a fingerprint controller, and a host. The device is placed in a low power doze mode where the fingerprint controller is in a low power state and the device scans for an object proximate to the sensing region. When an object is proximate to the sensing region, the device executes a validation mode to determine whether the object is a fingerprint. When a fingerprint is detected, the device sends a wake up signal to the fingerprint controller and places the fingerprint controller in a high power mode. One or more fingerprint images are then captured.

Different inputs of the user interface (122) are presented to the user on one or both of the screens (104a, 104b) depending on a current state of the device and in response to user operation. Content (304) such as an item of interest in a particular application is presented on one screen while tools or other inputs (208, 210, 302) for that application are provided on the other screen. Through user operation of the interface or physical manipulation of the client device (106a, 106b), the content and tools are swapped between the dual screens (Figs. 4C-D). For instance, buttons and menus can be brought up front to a closer screen for quick input, while active content (e.g., video chat, full image, drawings) is presented on the farther screen (Figs. 6A-D).

    摘要: Various embodiments concern fingerprint sensors for mobile devices. By modifying one or more layers of a display assembly, a fingerprint sensor can be positioned directly beneath the display. For example, the air gap within the backlight structure could be replaced by an optically clear adhesive that allows waves emitted by a fingerprint sensor to properly propagate through the display assembly. In some embodiments, a fingerprint sensor is set within a recess in the display assembly. For example, a depression could be created in the protective substrate, and the fingerprint sensor could be set within the depression using an optically clear adhesive. The functionality of a fingerprint sensor could also be replicated by increasing the density of touch-sensing elements in certain areas of a display assembly that utilizes in-cell technology.
