Abstract:
A card connector is used to connect a memory card, such as CF card or CFast card. The card connector includes a housing; a connecting section for receiving a mating section of the memory card; and a pair of guide sections located on opposite lateral sides of the connecting section to guide the memory card, so that the mating section of the memory card can be connected in a mating engagement with the connecting section of the card connector. A tab is further received within each guide section. The tab has a base section, a pair of elastic sections extending from the sides of the base section, and a grounding section below the base section, wherein each of the two elastic sections protrudes from at least one slot provided in the inner side of each guide section respectively and the grounding section protrudes from a hole provided in the bottom of each guide section. The tabs can provide maximum lifting retention and shear forces due to the memory card insertion and extraction. The elastic sections of the tabs can provide balanced support along the sides of the card and the grounding sections of the tabs can provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding.

Abstract:
The invention aims at improving an adapter for contacting smart cards, comprising in particular a PCMCIA standard connection of a data processing apparatus, such that the economic advantages of an increased integration of components can be used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards, to the extent of obtaining a simple and inexpensive manufacturing process ensuring economical mass production, in particular in view of a more and more widespread use of prescribed card systems. Therefor, the printed circuit board (9) has in the direction extending the reception channel (6) a shortened length, and includes a device (11), located on the side adjacent to the insertion slot (7) for positioning the printed circuit board (9) and guiding the smart card (2) in the reception channel (6).
Abstract:
Security of a storage apparatus is increased. A memory card includes a flash memory chip, an IC card chip capable of executing security processing (encryption, decryption, etc.), and a control chip for controlling data read/write from/to the flash memory chip and the IC card chip in response to a request of the host.
Abstract:
A connector which can connect a personal computer designed to use a memory card as an external memory medium to an external storage device or medium via the connection for the memory card. The housing (4) of a card type connector (2) is designed to have an external shape and size substantially the same as a standardized memory card. By inserting the housing (4) into a memory card connector (22) of a personal computer (200), the personal computer (200) and a hard disk drive (210) are connected by a cable (36) extending from the housing (4) of the card type connector (2), so that data transmission and reception can be performed between the personal computer (200) and the hard disk drive (210).
Abstract:
A grounding spring is provided for discharging static electricity on a card as the card is inserted into an electronic device and for therafter grounding the card, which minimizes electromagnetic radiation during electrostatic discharge in a simple and easily mounted construction. The grounding spring (60, Fig. 3) is formed of sheet metal and has a card-engaging part (64) lying within a recess of a card-guiding track (72). The grounding spring has a downwardly extending leg (90) that extends down into a hole (92) of a circuit board lying under the card-receiving mechanism, and has a substantially 180 DEG loop (112) connecting the card-engaging part to the downward leg.
Abstract:
Electronic circuit apparatus (20) in the form of a transaction terminal and including a removable circuit component in the form of a portable memory cartridge. The terminal has a housing (21) with a wall defining an opening (32) for inserting the removable circuit component (34). A switch (43) is mounted within the housing means substantially in the vicinity of the opening and is connected between a source of electric power and the removable circuit component to control application of power to the removable circuit component. A carrier (33, 35) arrangement carries the removable circuit component between a connected position within the housing and a disconnected position for removal from the housing through the opening. The carrier including a switch actuator (39) and a cooperative interlock means. The switch actuator operates the switch to be ON and simultaneously locks the carrier within the housing. The switch actuator also functions to turn the switch OFF and simultaneously unlock the carrier for removal from the housing.
Abstract:
A holographic read only memory card which can be coupled to and read by a card reader to which electronic read only memory cards can also be coupled to and read by the card reader is disclosed. The holographic read only memory card comprises: a housing having a compartment for receiving a holographic storage medium; a holographic storage medium having stored thereon holographic data; and optionally a an electronics panel member having an electronic memory component which can be read by the card reader when the holographic read only memory card is coupled to the electronic card reader. The housing comprises one or more card locating members to thereby repeatedly position the holographic read only memory card each time the holographic read only memory card is coupled to the electronic card reader so that the holographic data can be read.
