Abstract:
A programmable interface module includes a linear power regulator to control and provide power to interfaced components on an as needed basis. The inter- face module is implemented in, for example, a threat sensor pack and multiplexed to a plurality of sensor modules. In a first mode, the linear voltage regulator provides a relatively small amount of power which allows a sensor module to output a signal responsive to detecting an environmental condition (e.g., gamma or x-ray radiation, extreme temperatures, etc.). The interface module can switch the linear voltage regulator to a second mode in which the linear voltage regulator ramps up the amount of power provided to a detecting sensor module. The sensor module can then provide a threat level indicative of a concentration or intensity of the environmental condition. If the threat level surpasses a predetermined threshold, the senor pack can output a threat signal to security server.
Abstract:
The Emergency Automatic Gunshot Lockdown System (EAGL) (10) detects gunfire (22) and executes at least one predetermined lockdown scenario (Figs. 4, 5 and 6), such as notifying law enforcement of an active shooter (46), locking down soft target areas (48), and alerting building occupants of an active shooter situation (134, 140). Once a firearm is discharged, the gunshot detection sensors (22) send "real time" data to building officials, law enforcement, and building occupants (32) notifying them of an active shooter situation. Simultaneously, predetermined commands (38) are sent to perimeter, office, classroom, and other soft target areas to lockdown and stay secure, to keep the shooter from entering these soft target areas, and to prevent shooter from entering other buildings.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for reliably detecting gunfire in enclosed spaces having significant acoustic reverberation. Implementations are configured to quickly and reliably report the room or portion of a room where gunfire is located. Innovations herein may ensure low false alarm rate by thresholding, pattern recognition and/or detecting the muzzle optical flash. In some embodiments, a review center with trained personnel may evaluate the incident before reporting to local authorities. The indoor system can be incorporated into an outdoor gunshot location system to better protect a local area such as a campus or a transportation hub. Systems and methods herein may involve features and functionality associated with additional resources, such as intercoms, cellphones, and access control, to provide mitigation of harm in case of a shooting.
Abstract:
A system and method for responding to a triggering event occurring on a premises includes accessing a vault compartment of a vault located on the premises to retrieve a responder tool kit including a ballistic vest, a portable communication device, and a defense device for use in responding to the triggering event. A controller located in the vault compartment is in communication with a monitoring station located off the premises and a biometric authentication device located external to the vault including a bioscanner such as an iris scanner for collecting biodata to authenticate a person external to the vault as a qualified rapid responder. The controller at the time of authenticating the qualified and authorized rapid responder outputs an alarm signal to the monitoring station, alerting the monitoring station to contact emergency services, and unlocks the vault to provide access to the responder tool kit located in the cage assembly.
