Abstract:
A system (20) and method for dynamically creating individualized, multimedia messages and to deliver the messages to specific target groups or individual viewers. A message, story, or advertisement is assembled on demand, based upon rules applied to each viewer's profile and a library of media segments. The framework for the final personalized message is a story or message template designed for a campaign. A set of viewer profiles (22) is assembled from designated databases for each of the targeted entities. A collection of media segments (28, 30, 32) is also created or selected and then made available to produce the final personalized message at assembly time. Specific media segments are selected and merged according to the message template (35) and information about the viewer derived from each viewer's profile (22). The information from the viewer profile (22) is interpreted by a rule system (38) to determine which of several potential media segments (28, 30, 32) to select for use in the personalized message. The merged composite is then encoded to match the distribution media (40) and forwarded to the viewer (24).
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting commercials from other programs in a stored content. The system comprises an image detection module that detects and extracts faces in a specific time window. The extracted faces are matched against the detected faces in the subsequent time window. If none of the faces match, a flag is set, indicating a beginning of a commercial portion. A sound or speech analysis module verifies the beginning of the commercial portion by analyzing the sound signatures in the same time windows used for detecting faces.
Abstract:
A method is provided for playing a presentation. The method displays, through a display device connected to a machine, information identifying a presentation background, music, and presentation effects. The method receives a presentation selection including information identifying the presentation background, the music, and/or the presentation effects. The method then plays, through the display device, a presentation reflecting the selected information. The machine is a data storage drive, a printer, or a docking station, and includes a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to effect the presentation, whereas the memory is configured to store information representing the presentation background, the music, the presentation effects, and the presentation.
Abstract:
A digital broadcast receiver capable of reducing labor of a user when performing backup of a content recorded on a recording medium onto another recording medium. A digital broadcast receiver 100 extracts contents recorded in a first recording medium 200 without any particular order, by a title or genre recorded on a content list 200a using extraction means 100a. The contents extracted are automatically arranged according to the recording date and time recorded on the content list 200a by arrangement means 100b and are recorded onto a second recording medium 300 as a content list 300a.
Abstract:
The method, device and medium provide (restricted) forward compatibility to higher device/medium versions. It is provided a defined behaviour of an older device, if it has to handle information of a higher version number than supported by itself. The device is able to provide restricted (e.g. playback) functionality of its records to older devices. So, a newer device is assured, that older devices will not damage the additionally stored information: This is important, because only a newer device is able to understand these additional information, and to process it correctly.
