Abstract:
A perforated wrap-type covering protects coatings for buried pipes from damage by rocks and abrasive fill. The protective covering is a sheet of polymeric material, preferably 80 mil (2.03 mm) thick low density polyethylene, having an array of fluid communication perforations on one-inch centers, both longitudinally and laterally, and ranging in diameter from 1/16 inch to 3/16 inch (1.5 mm to 4.8 mm), to allow moisture to contact the coated pipe and provide current paths between the coated pipe, through the soil and to sacrificial anodes. The protective covering preferably has mounting holes which are spaced apart in rows which extend about respective circumferences of a pipe being coated. The protective covering is unrolled, then place around the pipe so that the diameter of the pipe is perpendicular to the length of the covering, and then the opposed edges over the protective covering are secured via cable ties.
Abstract:
A connection arrangement for a floor power distribution system is provided herein. The connection arrangement comprises a hub arrangement including a hub housing and an electrical connector, the hub housing configured to abut a floor. An adapter is configured to engage the hub housing of the hub arrangement and a seal member is positioned between a downwardly facing surface of the adapter and an upwardly facing surface of the hub housing, wherein a vertical downward force exerted on the adapter compresses the seal member to form a substantially watertight seal between the adapter and the hub housing.

Abstract:
A polymeric tape intended for use underground near service lines with a biocide incorporated into the polymer. The biocide's presence in the tape after burial discourages vegetative, fungal or other biological growth near the tape. Specifically tree root growth destructive to pipes is prevented. The biocide is incorporated into the plastic tape or the plastic coating on the metallic layer of a detectable tape. The biocide is incorporated in an effective amount to have biocidal activity on the surface of the tape or in increased amounts which leach from the tape.

Abstract:
A marker is provided for indicating the presence of a buried fibre optic or other cable. The marker includes a marker body having a flat upper surface suitable for flush-mounting within a settable material, such as concrete, asphalt, or joint filler, which has a generally plastic or flowable phase during which it may flow around a portion of the marker, and which subsequently sets, hardens or is packed so as to grip the marker and prevent its removal. The body is preferably elongate to fit within a narrow cut; for example if may comprise an elongate rectangular plate, although it may take on any suitable shape. Prongs or fins extend downwardly from the body to engage the material after to hardens or is packed.
Abstract:
In a method for backfilling pipe (2), cable or other structures placed in a ditch (1) and surrounded by a padding material (4), a geotextile material (8) is placed over the padding material (4) and then spoil (6) is backfilled into the ditch. The geotextile material (8) prevents rocks and other large particles from encroaching upon the padding material (4) which surrounds the buried structure (2) and then scratching, bending or breaking the buried object. Preferably, the spoil (6) is separated into layers of increasingly larger diameter particles. The geotextile material (8) can be carried as a roll on a padding machine or a frame attached to a tractor or other vehicle. A spreader and optionally a leveler are also provided to evenly place the geotextile material in the ditch. A tensioning device may also be provided to prevent inadvertent unwinding of the geotextile material as it is placed in the ditch (1).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a covering or locating strip for supply or disposal systems in the field of underground working. The strip consists of a plurality of individual components which assume different functions. The individual components are connected to one another in a laminar manner by means of connection processes which are known per se in textile technology and penetrate the individual components, producing a plurality of small apertures therein, individual materials which are not laminar being secured. In this respect, the use as base material of stitch bonded fabrics self-generated in the production process is particularly advantageous.
Abstract:
A walkway is arranged to be laid over and extend along cable troughing (2), the walkway comprising a plurality of identical panels (1), each panel (1) comprising a generally horizontal pavement section (5) having a front edge (10) and a rear edge (11) in a length direction and two side edges in a width direction transverse to the length direction, each pavement section (5) additionally comprising at least two downwardly projecting location elements (6, 7) located in a width direction to respective sides of a centre line extending in the length direction of the pavement section (5), the at least two location elements (6, 7) being arranged to extend down opposite sides of one or more sections of cable troughing (2) with the spacing between the at least two location elements (6, 7) being arranged to accommodate a standard width of cable troughing (2) and permit the location elements (6, 7) to slide down the sides of the cable troughing. The application enables panels (1) to be laid on a single width of standard cable troughing (2), to utilise the weight of the cable troughing and cables therein to provide a stable base for the walkway. The application is particularly advantageous in that it can be used with existing installed cable troughing.
