A receiver generates an unmapped symbol encoded according to a symbol constellation in a received signal. The receiver may determine whether a bit value constituting bits of the unmapped symbol is known a priori, and generates a de-mapped symbol representation for the unmapped symbol from a sub-region of a constellation map constrained by the bit value, if the bit value is known. As a result, errors introduced by the transmission channel may be reduced with less processing.

A base station may provide both an uplink grant and a downlink grant in a same transmission time interval (TTI), and may provide an indication in the uplink grant that the TTI includes the downlink grant. A user equipment (UE) that receives the uplink grant may provide feedback using identified feedback resources in an uplink shared channel, and other uplink transmissions may be rate matched around the feedback resources in the uplink shared channel. A base station receiving the feedback may monitor the feedback resources to determine whether the downlink grant or one or more of the downlink transmissions were successfully received at the UE. A base station, in some examples, may monitor different sets of resources to determine whether certain of the uplink grant, downlink grant, downlink transmissions associated with the downlink grant, or any combinations thereof, have been successfully received at the UE.

A method and apparatus for performing measurement in a wireless communication system is provided. A user equipment (UE) receives both an unlicensed discovery reference signal (U-DRS) and data burst simultaneously in subframes in which the UE is expected to receive a synchronization signal in an unlicensed carrier, and performs measurement by using the U-DRS. The subframes in which the UE is expected to receive the synchronization signal may be subframes having an index of 0 and 5.

The transmitter includes: a Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) encoder configured to encode outer-encoded bits to generate an LDPC codeword including LDPC information bits and parity bits; a puncturer configured to puncture some of the parity bits included in the LDPC codeword; and a mapper configured to map the LDPC codeword except the punctured parity bits to symbols for transmission to a receiver, wherein the puncturer calculates a number of parity bits to be punctured among the parity bits included in the LDPC codeword based on a number of the outer-encoded bits, a number of the LDPC information bits, and a minimum number of parity bits to be punctured among the parity bits included in the LDPC codeword.

Abstract:
A method for and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a wireless communication system supporting multiple carriers is provided. A wireless device determines a starting OFDM symbol of a physical downlink shared chancel (PDSCH) which is variably located by presence of reference signal (RS), a number of physical resource block(PRB)s used for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (ePDCCH), and receives the ePDCCH. The ePDCCH is set by one or more sets of PRBs within the PDSCH configured for a UE to monitor the ePDCCH. Thus, more efficient and accurate scheduling with lower complexity and reduction of control overhead of a master cell (as PCell), for multi-UEs and variable control information transmissions are supported in this invention.

An apparatus may receive a set of configurations for an EPDCCH that are tied (linked) to a set of configurations received for a PDSCH (they may be a subset of the set of PDSCH configurations). The apparatus may then receive and process the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the set of configurations for the EPDCCH In another aspect, the apparatus may determine at least a first and second resource set configured for a control channel (e.g. EPDCCH) and may determine a common set of aggregation levels for the first and second resource sets. The apparatus may further determine first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate- matching parameters for the second resource set, and may process the control channel using the common set of aggregation levels and the first and second rate-matching parameters. In another aspect, the apparatus determines whether a starting symbol of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) is an initial symbol (i.e. its value is zero) in a subframe based on an EPDCCH configuration and refrains from decoding a subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the starting symbol of the EPDCCH is the initial symbol in the subframe.
