A cable, configured for tandem communication and power transmission, said cable comprising: a plurality of twisted pair conductors; a jacket surrounding said twisted pair conductors; and at least one active cooling element, wherein said at least one active cooling element configured to provide a thermoelectric cooling effect to said cable when one or more of said plurality of twisted pairs are employed to transfer electrical power in a power over Ethernet application.
Abstract:
In a communications system that conducts differential data via a pair of wires (12), AC common mode noise is undesirably coupled to the wires (12) in a noisy environment. A hybrid common mode choke, HCMC (16), attenuates the AC common mode noise while passing the differential data to a PHY (150). The HCMC (16) includes a CMC (20) (windings with the same polarity) and a differential mode choke (24) (windings with opposite polarities). The CMC (20) attenuates the AC common mode noise, and the DMC (24) passes the attenuated AC common mode noise to termination circuity (26) to eliminate it. Also disclosed is a technique for Kelvin sensing the DC voltage at the pair of wires (12), in a PoDL system, by detecting the voltage on wires (12) that do not carry DC current, so as to provide a more accurate measurement.

A power droop handling device (400) for controlling DC electrical power delivery from an external power sourcing equipment (PSE, 402) to an external electrical load device (404) in response to the PSE receiving a predetermined maintain-power-signature pulse from the load device, wherein the power droop handling device comprises a droop sensor unit (406) configured to receive power-delivery information regarding DC electrical power delivery from the PSE to the load device and to provide a droop warning signal indicative of a power-droop condition, and a control unit (408) configured to output, in response to the droop warning signal, a maintain-operation signal to the PSE instructing the PSE to maintain the power delivery to the electrical load device for a predetermined time span, regardless of whether or not the maintain-power-signature pulse is detected during this time span.

Abstract:
A Power over Ethernet (PoE) system and method that can provide greater power efficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions is described. The PoE system includes power supply equipment, Ethernet cabling, and a powered device. When a load is not present at the end of the Ethernet cabling, an injector in the power supply equipment enters a sleep state, thus conserving power and increasing efficiency. When the injector is electrically connected to a load, such as the powered device, a circuit in the injector activates power to a digital control logic and subsequently provides power to a sensing conductor in the Ethernet cable, thereby enabling high efficiency power transfer.
Abstract:
A full duplex multiple-input-multiple-output radio unit is provided. It comprises a transmission unit, an antenna unit, a reception unit, a circulator unit, and a power reduction unit. The transmission unit generates first signals. The circulator unit provides one of the first signals from the transmission unit to each one of individual antennas of the antenna unit. Each antenna transmits one of the first signals and simultaneously receives one of second signals. Each one of a plurality of circulators provides one of a plurality of third signals to the power reduction unit. Each of the third signals comprises one of the second signals and interference generated from the first signals by the antenna unit and the circulator unit. Each one of a plurality of power reducers reduces the power of one of the third signals by multiplying the one of the third signals with a signal splitting factor.

The present invention is in the field of Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems comprising a power supply module and an operation module with an emergency operation mode for operating lighting means, wherein the power supply module supplies a supply voltage via a data cable to the operation module. Especially, the present invention relates to power supply modules, preferably Power Sourcing Equipments (PSE) according to the PoE standard; operation modules with an emergency operation mode, preferably Powered devices (PD) according to the PoE standard; PoE systems, comprising such power supply modules and operation modules; and a detection method for detecting whether an operation module is arranged for operating lighting means in an emergency operation mode as well as an emergency operation mode triggering method for triggering an operation module to operate lighting means in an emergency operation mode.
