    摘要: The present invention relates to a coupling arrangement for phantom-mode transmission over a wired loop plant. In an embodiment, an integrated circuit receives, during a first clock, an on-die termination (ODT) activation signal at its ODT pin. In an embodiment, the integrated circuit prevents a reset of the state of the ODT activation signal for a predetermined period of time to enable the multiplexing of signals on the ODT pin. According to the method and apparatus, a differential signal can be transmitted over two wires or two single-ended signals can be transmitted over the two wires (208, 209). Regardless of the type of termination selected, a capability for dynamic control of the termination impedance is provided. Moreover, an ability to change impedances of termination elements to maintain a desired termination impedance for both single-reference termination and center termination modes by shifting bits is provided. Also, a capability for dynamic control of transition times of signals is provided.

The apparatus includes a single current source (212) that is fed into a feeder line (216, 218) connected to opposite ends of the bus (202) at about the midpoint of the feeder line, dividing the path into two equal-length segments (216, 218). Integrated circuit chips (208) connected to the bus, when switched on, draw esentially equal amounts of current through each feeder segment, creating substantially equal voltage drops at each end of the bus.
