The recording medium switches which of the image transmission control unit of the recording medium and an image transmission control unit of the host device is used to communicate with the external device via the wireless communication unit.
Abstract:
An effects processor for an effects module. The effects processor comprises an RISC processor, a DSP for fast integer multiplication and a small memory. The processor uses VARK language and a lookup table of VARK scripts to apply a variety of effects to images stored outside the effects module. The effects processor includes a serial bus interface which communicates with the Serial Bus of a compact printer system comprising one or more further modules. The Serial Bus communicates power and data between the effects module and one or more of the further modules. Methods of compositing, convolving, warping and color substitution are described.
Abstract:
A compact printer system consists of at least a printer module and a range of further modules. The modules are connectable together to form a rod-shaped printer system. Each module has a connection means at one or both ends for interconnection of the modules. The connection means include a physical connection means and logical connection means. The physical connection means comprises a plug on a male connection means and a socket on a corresponding female connection means. The logical connection means comprises a serial bus. The serial bus consists of four conductive strips that carry power and data between modules.
Abstract:
A method of image storage, comprising: the preparation of new image data (16b) based on the initial digital data (16a) of at least one image to be stored, by modifying at least one first characteristic of said image, and the recording on a photographic medium (20) of at least one first and at least one second image in which: - the first and second images respectively have the first characteristic unmodified and the first characteristic modified, - the first and second images also have at least one second common characteristic, separate from the first characteristic, - the first and second characteristics have different storage stabilities, and in which at least one part of at least one of the first and second images is recorded in analog form having directly human-significant contents. Application to document and motion-picture storage.
Abstract:
An effects module useful in a digital imaging system such as a compact printer system. The effects module includes an image processor that applies one or more effects to a stored image, which may be read from a printer module. The resultant image is written back to the printer module or another module able to store images. The effects module preferably incorporates two connection means. One or other of the connection means may connect to corresponding connection means on the printer module. The connection means includes a physical connection and a logical connection. The logical connection is a serial bus that communicates power and data. Buttons are provided to choose, select and apply different types and numbers of effects to the image read from the printer module. Feedback is provided via a LCD.
Abstract:
A controller for a printer module having a printhead that prints an image on printable media including a low speed central processing unit with associated program memory storing program steps for execution by the central processing unit to operate the printer module and associated scratch memory to store program variables. An image to be printed is stored in an image storage memory of approximately 1.3Mbytes. An image access unit accesses the image and transfers the image to a printhead interface on command from the central processing unit. The printhead interface transforms the image to a 1600dpi dithered CMY image for printing by a monolithic printhead. The controller also includes one or more interface units communicating with components of said printer module under control of the central processing unit. A Serial Bus interface communicates with the Serial Bus of a compact printer system to transfer data and power between modules. In one application, a camera module captures an image which is transferred to the image storage memory of the printer module for printing by the printhead.
Abstract:
A printer module for a compact printer system comprises a stationary printhead, an ink reservoir, a motive means and an image storing means, all housed within an elongate body. The motive means carries a printable media past the printhead which prints a full width image in a single pass. A power supply is also preferably housed within the elongate body. The body is preferably cylindrical and approximately the size of a large pen. The printhead is suitably a monolithic drop-on-demand inkjet printer.
