Abstract:
Implementations of the present disclosure involve an apparatus and/or method for a regional independent tandem switch of a telecommunications network. The tandem switch processes communications between a long distance carrier and a local exchange carrier through a voice over IP (VOIP) network. By utilizing the VOIP network, the regionally independent tandem may process long distance communications to and from any point in the network, regardless of the physical proximity of the tandem to the originating/destination communication device. The regionally independent nature of the tandem also allows for flexibility in communication routing through the network, load balancing between the network tandem switches and reduction of needed components of the network for proper processing of the long distance communications.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for giving preference to a specific media gateway (212, 216) in the selection of the next circuit so that in a multi-media-gateway soft-switch (100) where a call may take any of many possible paths, an outgoing circuit on the same media-gateway as the incoming circuit is preferably selected, so if one is available, the need for using more bearer ports on media gateways to bridge the two sides is eliminated. Instead of interconnection, the same facilities can be provisioned to the bearer interface between the soft-switch (100) and the rest of the network. This invention maximizes the bearer capacity of a distributed media gateway for external network access.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided that enable users to communicate in a telephone communication without any of the parties having to dial a number on their own phone. In one embodiment, a central call server stores account information for each user and a user interface is provided to the caller. The caller can simply select the intended recipient of the call and the system seamlessly connects the caller and the recipient by calling each side and bridging the call. Information stored by the call server can also be used to provide custom appointments and reminders.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer program products for providing Internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) registration service to a non-IMS subscriber terminal are disclosed. According to one method, activity involving a non-IMS subscriber terminal is identified. In response to identifying the activity involving the non-IMS subscriber terminal, an IMS network registration operation is performed on behalf of the non-IMS subscriber terminal.
Abstract:
There is provided a service system, application platform, application design framework and method of providing a service over a hybrid network comprising at least one circuit-switched network and at least one packet-switched network connected via at least one gateway configured to provide necessary conversion to a video call passing between the packet-switched network and the circuit-switching network. The application design framework is configured to be located in the packet-switched network, to be operatively interfaced to the gateway and to enable development of one or more applications to be accommodated by said framework. The application framework is further configured to be capable of receiving a video call initiated by a video device from the circuit-switched network and transferred through the gateway and of further serving as an end-point of said video call; analyzing, at least, in-band information comprised in the received video call therefore recognizing a user-related information; providing the recognized user-related information to one or more applications when accommodated by the framework; and, optionally, of handling one or more media streams in accordance with instructions by one or more applications when accommodated by the framework.

Abstract:
A process and apparatus to facilitate communication between callers and callees in a system comprising a plurality of nodes with which callers and callees are associated is disclosed. In response to initiation of a call by a calling subscriber, a caller identifier and a callee identifier are received. Call classification criteria associated with the caller identifier are used to classify the call as a public network call or a private network call. A routing message identifying an address, on the private network, associated with the callee is produced when the call is classified as a private network call and a routing message identifying a gateway to the public network is produced when the call is classified as a public network call.
Abstract:
Managing packet data network jitter is disclosed. A first call data associated with a mobile network communication session is received. A second call data that is older than the first call data is dropped from a buffer if required to make room in the buffer for the first call data.
Abstract:
A method, mobile terminal, and system for selectively establishing an outgoing caller ID on a mobile terminal served by a wireless network, for identifying a line called on a mobile terminal, and for directing a call from a mobile terminal to a network subscriber based on accessed information of the subscriber in the subscriber's network.
Abstract:
The subject matter described herein relates to methods, systems, and computer program products for providing Internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) services in response to advanced intelligent network (AIN) triggers. According to one aspect, a method for providing an IMS service in response to an AIN trigger is provided. The method includes detecting the firing of an AIN trigger concerning an IMS registered non-IMS device. An IMS service to be provided in response to the AIN trigger is identified. The IMS service is provided.
