Abstract:
Water-in-oil emulsions, compositions, and methods that include a vinyl polymer having a pKa of less than 4 that includes anionic group-containing side chains and alkyl-Y-containing side chains, wherein Y is O or NR, wherein R is hydrogen or methyl, and wherein the alkyl group of the alkyl-Y-containing side chain has at least 4 carbon atoms on average in a cyclic, branched-, or straight-chain configuration and optionally including one or more heteroatoms.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to methods and compositions for treating skin disorders. The present invention is easily administered and can be used for both humans and animals. The compositions of the present invention comprise borate compounds and provide relief from skin disorder symptoms and lesions. Additionally, the present invention can be used to provide long term maintenance of symptom-free skin.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to personal care and pharmaceutical compositions comprising an alcohol, a personal care polymer, and an alcohol-masking perfumery component. These compositions can be applied to the skin, hair, or mucosa. The alcohol-masking perfumery component substantially reduces both the alcohol odor or aroma and the stinging or burning sensation in the nose or throat due to the alcohol when the compositions are sprayed or atomized.
Abstract:
A skin tightening aqueous gel formed from the combination of water, a dispersed finely particulate vegetable based tautening or tensor agent, a polymeric gelling agent, a liquid hydrocarbon dispersing aid and a nonionic surfactant. There is described a method of dispensing and spreading the gel onto skin areas for the tightening treatment.
Abstract:
The present invention is for an alcoholic moisturizing after shave lotion having reduced stinging and burning upon application. Said lotion contains a combination of an anti-inflammatory agent and a moisturizing emollient within specified ratios to one another for elimination of stinging and burning when applying said lotion to the skin.
Abstract:
A composition containing components of the herb of the species Equisetum and component of the herb and/or flower of the species Lavandula is topically used for preventing and controlling dermatomycoses, in particular dermatophytoses, skin diseases with the clinical symptoms of Tinea pedis, skin diseases caused by said dermatomycotic agents in other parts of the bodies, bromhidrosis, other forms of transpiration and unpleasant bodily smells. Also disclosed are the use of this composition for controlling dermatomycotic agents and pathological agents capable of causing the clinical symptoms of Tinea pedis in textiles, other clothing and hygiene items in contact with the skin, for deodorising the same, a process for achieving said effects and a process for preparing said composition.
Abstract:
A new and improved vehicle for delivering pharmaceutical ingredients to the human skin in a manner whereby the bioavailability, subcutaneous adsorption, and effectiveness of the active ingredient are remarkably enhanced. The vehicle comprises a volatile silicone, a fatty alcohol having from 12-22 carbon atoms, a preselected active ingredient; and such preservatives or emulsifying agents as may be warranted.
Abstract:
A personal care composition in the form of an aqueous gel comprising an alpha-hydroxy acid, wherein the pH of the composition is less than 4. 5. The personal care composition comprises a gelling agent and an aqueous solvent. The personal care composition further comprises particulates and an effective amount of suspension agent to suspend the particulates. The personal care composition exhibits a consumer desired viscosity and translucency and stability. The composition is used in a method for exfoliating the skin.
