Abstract:
A bearing material composition that lines a support includes a combination of a thermoplastic conforming material and abrasive particles which provide a combined effect for remedying the effects due to edge loading that may be caused by misalignment between the bearing and a shaft to which a portion is rotatably mounted. The conforming material may be PTFE such that it does not have a memory and is subject to cold flow and creep. As a result, misalignment problems and edge loading are remedied by the combination of abrasive removal of metal material from the drive shaft at the location of edge loading and creep of the conforming material at the location of edge loading which may provide an overall greater bearing interface surface.
Abstract:
A scroll-type fluid displacement device (10) has two interfitting spiral-shaped scroll members (50, 60) which have predetermined geometric configuration. The novel design provides a flow diverter mechanism (24) which directs intake fluid flow to break incompressible liquid accumulated into fine droplets which can be evenly engulfed by two suction pockets formed by the scrolls. This invention also provides a multiple groove tip seal mechanism (136, 137a, 236) for radially sealing off the compression pockets. This invention further provides a semi-radial compliant mechanism (44, 46, 47) which maintains the radial compliant function of the orbiting scroll (50) and at the same time transfers the load caused by the centrifugal force of the orbiting scroll from the scroll elements to the crank shaft (40).

Abstract:
There is described a pump comprising a motor mounted in a housing (27) having a driveshaft (25), extending therefrom and a number of separate pumping arrangements (21, 22, 23, 24) mounted to the driveshaft (25) by means of couplings (11) capable of transmitting torque in one direction only. The pumping arrangements are contained in a second housing (22) detachably fixed relative to the motor housing (27) and capable of being separated therefrom in the axial direction of the driveshaft (25). The couplings (11) are arranged on the shaft (25) in opposite senses, so that rotation of the shaft (25) in one sense operates one pump (21) and rotation in the opposite sense operates the other pump (20). Preferably the pumps are of the peristaltic type.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods including a lubricating solution bath for a pump integrated into an ophthalmic surgical hand piece are provided. In some embodiments, an ophthalmic pump system includes a housing defining a cavity. The system includes a rotating element positioned within the cavity of the housing. The system includes a flexible tubular structure positioned within the housing adjacent to the rotating element such that rotation of the rotation element urges a fluid through the flexible tubular structure. The system includes a lubricating solution positioned within the cavity around the rotating element and at least a portion of the flexible tubular structure.
Abstract:
A compressor may include a shell, a bearing housing supported within the shell, an orbiting scroll, a non-orbiting scroll meshingly engaged with the orbiting scroll, fasteners and a drive shaft. The bearing housing may include a central body defining a bore and arms extending radially outward from a central body and defining circumferentially extending grooves. The circumferentially extending grooves may include inner side walls, outer side walls and base regions extending regionally between the inner and outer side walls and defining fastener receiving apertures. The orbiting scroll may be supported on the bearing housing and a non-orbiting scroll may be meshingly engaged with the orbiting scroll and may include flanges defining flange apertures. The fasteners may extend through the flange apertures and the fasteners receiving apertures and secure the non-orbiting scroll to the bearing housing. The drive shaft may extend through the bore and be engaged with the orbiting scroll.
Abstract:
A peristaltic pump assembly includes a pump body including a mounting pin coupled thereto. A removable cassette is slidably received on the mounting pin and is secured to the pump body via a retaining feature. The mounting pin is also configured to allow the removable cassette to rotate into and/or out of an installed position, or to position(s) therebetween.
