Abstract: A door security arrangement with the frame member (10) which is mountable in a wall alongside the opening edge of a door and has an elongate member (30) slideably mounted therein, the member (30) being substantially the same length of the door edge and being movable from a retracted position in which it lies within the frame member and permits the door to swing past it to an extended position in which it lies alongside and substantially against the inner face of the door (14) and the arrangement including releasable means (44, 60, 80), located within the frame member which hold the elongate member (30) in its retracted and extended positions and are operable by the normal door locking mechanism.

Abstract: A security box inter alia for tools has a métal box and a Hd of the swing and slide type utilising a pair of box hinges fixed to the box and a pair of Hd hinges fixed to the Hd, and a pair of intermediate hinges connected to both sets of hinges by links which make ail the hinges parallel and enabling the door hinge to lie outside the plane of the door opening. In a variant, there is no intermediate hinge and the Hd opening angle is less. The Hd and box hâve interengaging profiled edges which in the closed position mutually obstruct but, when the Hd slides to the open position, the profiles separate and the Hd is free to swing open.

Abstract: A multi-compartment mailbox has a master door which a mailman can open, using a first master key, to enable large packages to be delivered, and the master door has a plurality of sub-doors each enabling access to a specific one of the compartments and openable by use of a key different from the master key and different from the keys used to open the other sub-doors. Each sub-door has a mail delivery flap and all the flaps of all the sub-doors can be collectively locked and unlocked to prevent delivery of junk mail. A second master key controls the condition, locked or unlocked, of the flaps and persons, such as building management or town council officials, may also have copies of the second master key, but not the first. A manually operable control determines the condition, locked or unlocked, of the flaps and employs a gear and rack system which moves a cam to longitudinally displace hinge rods for the sub-doors, flap locking members being carried by the hinge rods and either preventing opening of the flaps or permitting them to open depending on the displacement condition of the hinge rods. In a modified arrangement, the mail delivery flaps each have means whereby they can be selectively and individually rendered non-lockable whereby the mailbox users can if they wish opt to receive junk mail and other deliverables.
