Abstract:
The invention relates to an insert (1) for a boring device, in particular for a countersink borer with depth stop or for a pressure die bush, comprising a substantially circular base body (2) and a base body bore (3) disposed approximately centrally therein for passing a borer (11) and/or a countersink borer through it. According to the invention, an underside (6) of the base body (2) is in contact with a surface (13) of a component (12) for protecting said surface (13) and a base diameter (5) of the base body bore (3) is greater or equal to a diameter (15) of a bore (14) to be created in a component (12) or greater or equal to an opening diameter (17) of a countersink bore (16) .
Abstract:
An integral guide mechanism (2) for a power drill (1) which has retractable arms (10, 11) cooperating with the housing of said power drill. A workpiece engaging base (14) is on the retractable arms. The retractable arms enable retraction of the base towards the housing of the power drill past the chuck (6) and a catch arrangement holds them retracted. The base of the guide mechanism has a seat (20) to enable the base to be stably positioned against a pipe or other non-planar surface. The seat can include V blocks (24) to be positioned on the side of the base opposite to which the drill bit approaches or be positioned on the same side from which the drill bit approaches to cradle an article to be drilled.
Abstract:
The present invention is a coring unit adapted to be engaged to an articulated arm, to reduce the labor necessary for on-site coring of sewage and water pipes. The coring unit includes a frame containing the components of the unit, which include a coring bit, a coring bit motor, a traverse mechanism, and a stabilizer for allowing ready orientation of the coring unit with respect to an object being cored. The unit may also be provided with a traverse motor for driving the coring bit into an object being cored, and for withdrawing the coring bit once a core has been formed. The coring unit may additionally be adapted to allow for remote operation of the coring unit.
Abstract:
A device and method of removing a rivet which has been installed on a work piece. The method includes clamping a hand held device having springs onto the work piece, engaging a drill with a drill bit of the hand held device, the springs applying a pre-load force to the drill bit, operating the drill, thereby causing the springs to apply an increased load force to the drill bit and causing the drill bit to drill into a button of the rivet, unclamping and removing the hand held device from the work piece, and using a compression tool to remove the rivet from the work piece. The compression tool includes a push out portion configured to push out the rivet, and a recess is disposed generally opposite the push out portion for catching the rivet as the rivet is pushed out.
Abstract:
A reverse chamfering and countersink stop tool allows the required diameter of a countersink in a workpiece to be maintained in areas that have limited accessibility for the user assembling a fastener to the workpiece. The tool controls the dimension required for proper installation of fasteners under such conditions. The tool can also be used for other applications that require control of the diameter of a chamfer, and allows the diameter of the chamfer/countersink to be set outside the point of use for maintaining proper tolerances. The tool utilizes a modified reverse countersink cutter that is captured inside an externally threaded adjustable stop housing. The captured cutter is movable both axially and rotationally, and is driven by a drill equipped with a pilot. The stop position of the cutter is controlled by a series of nuts that are located and threaded on the exterior of the housing.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A hydraulic stop (2) for use in drilling or countersinking operations comprising a rotatable body for rotating a tool (6) about its axis and a cage (20) adapted to contact the surface of a workpiece (8) when the tool has penetrated into the workpiece by a predetermined distance and to actuate a trip mechanism comprising a plungeroperated hydraulic valve (30, 32) as the tool (6) penetrates the workpiece more than the predetermined distance, wherein the plunger (28) is of adjustable length. When actuated the trip mechanism allows the body to shrink in length suddenly. The cage (20) is axially adjustable in relation to the body to set the predetermined depth at which the trip mechanism actuates. Drainage means is provided comprising a plurality of holes spaced around the circumference of the body to which the cage (20) is mounted to allow drainage of coolant whatever the axial position of the cage (20).
Abstract:
A multi-function drill bit assembly with slideably positionable hole saw (10) comprising an elongate bit member (73), a reversible arbor member (41), and a hole saw member (50). The elongate drill bit member (73) has a drilling portion (71) and an attachment portion (30), with the drilling portion having a sharp cutting tip (31) and the attachment portion (30) having at least one flat surface running longitudinally across. The reversible arbor member (41) has a cylindrical cavity (44) extending axially therethrough with the attachment portion (30) of the drill bit member (73) being slideably disposed in the cylindrical cavity (44). The arbor member (41) has a first portion (46) and a cylindrical skirt portion (47), the cylindrical skirt portion (47) extending outwardly from the first portion (46) and being generally concentric with the cylindrical cavity (44).
