Abstract: A first module configured to engage with a second module in a stacked configuration to define a modular energy system is provided. The first module comprises a first bridge connector portion and a second conductive portion. The first bridge connector portion is configured to engage with a second bridge connector portion of the second module as the first module and the second module are engaged. The first conductive portion is configured to engage with a second conductive portion of the second module as the first module and the second module are engaged, prior to engagement between the first bridge connector portion and the second bridge connector portion.

Abstract: Mitigating a user interface display function of a modular energy system includes receiving formatted video data at a video data converter circuit, providing differential video signaling data to the display from the video data converter circuit, providing a copy of the differential video signaling data to a processor, and determining that the differential video signaling data is changing over time. Mitigating erroneous outputs from an isolated interface includes receiving a state of a first switch of a first footswitch coupled to a first comparator and a reference voltage coupled to the first comparator, receiving the state of the first switch coupled to the first duplicate comparator and the reference voltage coupled to the first duplicate comparator, comparing the output of the first comparator with the output of the first duplicate comparator, and determining activation or deactivation of a surgical instrument coupled to the controller based on the comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed is an isolated interface circuit for a modular energy system. A comparator is configured to couple to a switch and a reference voltage, and an output. A duplicate comparator is configured to couple to the switch and the reference voltage. An expander circuit is coupled to the comparator and the duplicate comparator. An isolator circuit is coupled to the expander circuit. A controller is coupled to the isolator circuit. The controller is configured to compare the output of the comparator with the output of the duplicate comparator and determine activation or deactivation of a surgical instrument coupled to the controller based on the comparison.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for surgical procedurelization via a modular energy system are disclosed herein. In various aspects, the systems, methods and devices include an energy module, a header module communicably coupled to the energy module, and a display screen capable of rendering a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI may be configured to display a plurality of steps that correspond with actions performed by a user while operating the modular energy system. In some aspects, the steps displayed are steps of a predetermined procedural checklist corresponding with a mental model followed by the user while performing a surgical procedure. In some aspects, the steps displayed are steps of an output verification process.

Abstract: A robot-assisted surgical system in which apparatus for providing electrosurgical functionality is directly mountable on or integrated within a robotic arm. The apparatus may be a detachable module or capsule, which may be movable between different robotic arms in the same environment. The apparatus may comprise a plurality of modules, each providing a different treatment modality. Depending on the procedure to be performed, a different module or combination of modules may be selected and mounted on one or more robotic arms.

Abstract: A surgical instrument with insulating grips is described. The grips can include internal metal frames that are arranged to limit electrical conductivity within the grips and to other components that attach to a grip, such as a ratchet. The internal metal frames can be constructed of multiple internal portions, spatially separated from one another to interrupt electrical conductivity between the internal portions, but coated with an insulating overmold to provide mechanical coupling between the portions. An internal metal frame can also include a notch, cut-out, or other region partially surrounded by the structure of the internal metal frame, which can be coated with an insulating overmold to define a region of the grip that does not have an internal metal frame therein but which can include an attachment point for mechanically coupling other components while limiting electrical coupling between the metal frame and the other components.

Abstract: A current generator (200) for a medical treatment system is disclosed herein. In one example, the medical treatment system can include a cable (110) and a current generator. The cable can include a distal portion that couples to a medical device (106) and a proximal portion. The proximal portion of the cable can include a first and second conductor (116, 118), with each conductor having an exposed contact region. The current generator can releasably couple to the cable to deliver an electrical signal. The current generator can include an inner chamber that can receive at least a portion of the cable. The current generator can also include first and second electrical connectors, which can electrically connect to the conductors. The current generator can also include a cable guide that can assist with position the cable within the inner chamber and a cable lock that can lock a part of the cable in position.
