Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electroporation system including a catheter shaft, at least one electrode coupled to the catheter shaft at a distal end thereof, and a signal generator. The signal generator is coupled in communication with the at least one electrode. The signal generator supplies a biphasic pulse to the at least one electrode, the biphasic pulse including a first phase having a first polarity, a first initial voltage amplitude, and a first pulse width. The biphasic pulse including a second phase having a second polarity opposite to the first polarity, a second initial voltage amplitude, and a second pulse width, wherein at least one of the first initial voltage amplitude or the first pulse width is different from the second initial voltage amplitude or the second pulse width, respectively. A leading edge of the second phase occurs after an interphase delay following a trailing edge of the first phase.

Abstract: Described herein is a system including a catheter, an optical circuit, a pulsed field ablation energy source, and a processing device. The catheter includes a proximal section, a distal section, and a shaft coupled between the proximal section and the distal section. The optical circuit is configured to transport light at least partially from the proximal section to the distal section and back. The pulsed field ablation energy source is coupled to the catheter and configured to transmit pulsed electrical signals to a tissue sample. The processing device is configured to analyze one or more optical signals received from the optical circuit to determine changes in polarization or phase retardation of light reflected or scattered by the tissue sample, and determine changes in a birefringence of the tissue sample based on the changes in polarization or phase retardation.

Abstract: The subject of this disclosure includes systems, devices and methods to treat a predetermined patient population for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, the method including ablating tissue of one or more targeted pulmonary veins with one or more of a plurality of the electrodes of an independently controlled multi-electrode radiofrequency balloon catheter, the balloon catheter comprising the plurality of electrodes for radiofrequency ablation that are independently controllable; determining a predictor, based on ablation parameters of the balloon catheter, of single shot pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) success rate; and achieving, based on the predictor and step of ablating tissue, a single shot isolation PVI success rate in the isolation of all targeted pulmonary veins for the predetermined patient population.
