Provided herein are compositions comprising a carrier and one or more bioactive agents in which one or more bioactive agents are incorporated into said carrier. Sugars that are naturally present with one or more bioactive agents as mixture are preferentially excluded out of said carrier in the composition. The compositions have wide applications including, but not limited to food and beverage industries. Also provided are methods of incorporating one or more bioactive agents into a carrier, compositions comprising a carrier and one or more bioactive agents and use of such methods and compositions, and kits. The methods are useful for (a) improving color, thermal, photo, and oxidative stability of bioactive agents, e.g., natural food colorants and other bioactive ingredients, (b) reducing and eliminating the usage of artificial chemicals such as sacrificial antioxidants and metal ion chelators that are used to improve bioactive stability.

Adelostemma gracillimum refined fractions and the extraction process thereof are also provided by the present invention. The uses of the compounds and the adelostemma gracillimum refined fractions for inhibiting the activities of NMDA receptor or amyloid-beta peptide, for improving memory, and for treating neurodegenerative diseases, neuropathological conditions or epilepsy are further provided by the present invention.

There is provided a process for preparing an edible aqueous dispersion of one or more steroidal glycosides, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a composition comprising at least 1% by weight steroidal glycosides from plants, (b) dissolving an emulsifier having a HLB (hydrophilic lipophilic balance) value between 7 and 30 in a solvent, and (c) thoroughly homogenising the composition comprising the steroidal glycosides for about 1 to 10 minutes in the solution of the solvent and the emulsifier at a temperature of 20 to 200°C to obtain a dispersion, and d) optionally, cooling the solution to a temperature below 40°C, whereby said steroidal glycosides are dispersed to a mean particle size (D3,2) of less than 15 micrometer, wherein the ratio (w/w) of the steroidal glycosides to the emulsifier in said edible dispersion is less than 10:1.

The invention relates to aqueous suspension of dried latex (DL) of Calotropis procera and to a method of preparation for the prevention/treatment of cancer. The DL suspension when administered orally ín the X-myc mice - a transgenic mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), was effective in protecting the animals from the atypical mitosis and displastic/nenoplastic changes occuring in vivo. Further, the DL suspension did not show any observable side effects when administered orally to the animals for 16 weeks. Further, the purified fractions of the latex were found to exhibit potent cytotoxic activity in in vitro cell culture system using two different cancer cell lines.
