摘要: A surgical kit includes a surgical stapling device and a loading assembly. The surgical stapling device includes a tool assembly and a buttress material. The tool assembly includes first and second jaw members. The first jaw member supports a staple cartridge that includes a retention assembly. The retention assembly includes a cam block including a pair of protrusions and a spring biasing the cam block towards the second jaw member. The buttress material includes proximal and distal portions. The proximal portion defines bores laterally spaced apart and configured to receive the pair of protrusions of the cam block. The distal portion defines a cavity to be placed over a distal end portion of the staple cartridge. The loading assembly includes a housing defining a chamber configured to receive a portion of the buttress material. The housing includes a proximal portion defining a slot configured to receive the buttress material therethrough and the pair of protrusions of the cam block.

摘要: The present invention provides a process for preparing a self-standing catecholamine-based membrane, the process comprising the steps of: (a) cross-linking a catechol derivative with an amine selected from the group consisting of: a known aliphatic amine hydrocarbon of formula (II); and an aromatic amine of formula (IIbis), in a liquid medium, wherein both the catechol and the amine are soluble, at a pH comprised from 6.5 to 10, and under appropriate agitation to create a catecholamine membrane in the air/liquid interface in the absence of any support; and b) isolating the membrane resulting from step (a) from the air/liquid interface. The resulting self-standing catecholamine-based membrane was robust, easy to handle and manipulate, highly flexible and adaptable to any kind of surface without breaking, and adhesive. In addition, the free-standing membrane of the invention shows a Janus character, with an unexpected nanopatterning in the water-contact side which endows the membranes of the invention with a higher roughness surface, something of value to promote cell adhesion.

摘要: A composite wire uses a powder core to offer radiopaque enhancements without the drawbacks of a solid metal core. For example, composite wires may include highly radiopaque materials, such as tantalum and platinum, integrated into the wire core in powder form. The powder core provides high radiopacity to the finished wire while preserving mechanical properties of the shell material. The powder form of the core material also enables a wider range of candidate materials for the composite wire core, such that a desirable electrochemical profile may be maintained between the core and shell materials, including bioabsorbable shell materials.
