It is disclosed an apparatus for electrostatic deactivation and removal of hazardous aerosols from air, said apparatus comprising an ionization zone (2) for charging aerosols contained in a stream of supplied air and for obtaining aerosols having negative air ions, a spraying zone (4) for generating positively charged droplets and for absorbing said charged aerosols by contacting them with said generated positively charged droplets, and a collection device for collecting said negative air ions and said absorbed aerosols from said spraying zone (4).

Method and apparatus for cleaning pollution control equipment, such as particulate removal devices, including wet electrostatic precipitators (WESP). The apparatus may comprise a plenum having a gas inlet for the introduction of process gas into said housing; a gas outlet for discharge of treated process gas from said housing; at least one ionizing electrode; at least one particulate collection electrode; the plenum being in fluid communication with the at least one ionizing electrode and the at least one particulate collection electrode; an upper support frame; a lower support frame connected to the upper support frame and comprising at least one electrode support beam supporting the at least one ionizing electrode; and at least one movable nozzle in the plenum for discharging washing liquid towards the at least one collection electrode to dislodge particulate matter from the at least one collection electrode.

A system includes a charging apparatus to charge airborne particles, and a vapor generator to supply vapor to the charging apparatus. The charging apparatus includes an electrode portion and a ventilation passage passing through the electrode portion. A supply rate of the vapor supplied by the vapor generator is approximately 0.20 to 0.50 mg/min per 1 cm 2 of a cross-sectional area of the ventilation passage. Additionally, the system includes a collecting apparatus to collect the airborne particles charged by the charging apparatus.

A wet electrostatic precipitator (1) comprises an inlet (2) for receiving a gas (4) containing a pollutant, and an outlet (6) for discharging therefrom the gas (8) from which said pollutant has been at least partially removed. Nozzles (24) are operative for purposes of spraying liquid onto at least one first vertical collecting surface (30) of at least one collecting electrode (18). A liquid distributor (42) is provided for purposes of pouring liquid onto at least one second vertical collecting surface (44), said at least one second vertical collecting surface (44) being located on a further collecting electrode (36), with said further collecting electrode (36) being located downstream of said at least one collecting electrode (18). The nozzles (24) are located upstream of the liquid distributor (42), as viewed with reference to the direction of flow of the gas. In a method of cleaning the collecting electrodes (18, 36) an upstream electrode (18) is sprayed with liquid while liquid is poured onto a downstream collecting electrode (36).

Der Ionisator in einer Abgasreinigungsanlage für tropfenbeladene, kondensierende Feuchtgase besteht aus: einer über den Querschnitt des Strömungskanals angebrachten, elektrisch leitenden, an ein elektrisches Bezugspotential gelegten Düsenplatte mit einer in einem konzentrischen Querschnittsgebiet regelmässigen über dieses Querschnittsgebiet gleichverteilten Anordnung von kreisförmigen Düsen. In Strömungsrichtung schliesst sich ein Hochspannungs-Elektrodengitter an, das über dem Querschnitt konzentrisch im Strömungskanal steht und in der Kanalwand elektrisch isoliert verankert ist. Jeder Elektrodenstift ist an seinem freien Ende sternförmig ausgestaltet und steht der Gasströmung entgegen. Die Düsenplatte und die Baugruppe aus Hochspannungs-Elektrodengitter, Elektrodenstifte mit jeweils zugehörigen Elektrodenspitzen sind aus einem für die Prozessumgebung inerten, elektrisch leitenden Material. Die Gasströmung läuft im Ionisator gegen die Erdanziehung.

The invention relates to a precipitating tube bundle for wet electrofilters. Said precipitating tube bundle consists of several single-piece precipitating tubes which are held, at a distance from each other, by an upper support collar, a central guide ring and a lower guide ring. The advantages of the invention are that the tube bundle is economical and simple to produce, that individual tubes can be replaced and that when an electrical breakdown occurs in one of the precipitation tubes, the adjacent tubes are not damaged.
