Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft einen Abscheider zur Trennung von Feststoffen aus einem insbesondere zahnärztlichen Abwassergemisch, welcher ein Gehäuse mit einem Deckel und eine in einer Zentrifugenkammer des Gehäuses drehbar gelagerte und rotatorisch antreibbare Zentrifugentrommel umfasst. Das Gehäuse weist einen in die Zentrifugenkammer mündenden Gemischeinlass für das zu trennende Abwassergemisch und einen Flüssigkeitsauslass für aus dem Abwassergemisch abgetrennte Flüssigkeit auf. Zwischen der Oberseite der Zentrifugentrommel und dem Gehäuse ist dabei eine Übertrittsöffnung derart ausgebildet, dass während des Zentrifugiervorgangs Flüssigkeit von der Zentrifugentrommel in eine mit dem Flüssigkeitsauslass in Verbindung stehende Auslasskammer gelangen kann. Erfindungsgemäß ist die Zentrifugentrommel derart ausgebildet, dass nach einem Zentrifugiervorgang unter Schwerkrafteinwirkung absinkende Feststoffe in der Zentrifugentrommel verbleiben. Durch Öffnung des Gehäusedeckels ist die Zentrifugentrommel freilegbar, wobei die Zentrifugentrommel unter Verbleib der darin gesammelten Feststoffe aus dem Gehäuse ausbaubar ist.

Additionally provided is a method of determining, from a blood sample from a subject, (a) a likelihood of the subject developing a disease, disorder or condition; (b) a predicted responsiveness of the subject to treatment of the disease, disorder or condition; or (c) prognosis of the subject to the disease, disorder or condition.

Die Erfindung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, zumindest ein Kanalabschnitt (22) des Strömungskanals (20) ringförmig ausgebildet ist und eine Grundströmung des fließfähigen Mediums (4) in Umfangsrichtung des Rotors (10) relativ zu der Außenwand (11) des Rotors (10) vorgibt. Des Weiteren betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zum Betreiben der Zentrifuge.
