Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of operating a thruster apparatus involves causing a first propeller to rotate in response to pressure of a first flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid, and causing a second propeller to rotate in response to pressure of a second flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid separate from the first flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid. Thruster apparatuses are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An electric actuator comprises a housing and an output shaft reciprocatingly received by the housing. There is a screw assembly disposed within the housing and coupled to the output shaft. The screw assembly includes a plurality of annular rollers and a central screw received by the annular rollers. The annular rollers are rotatable about the central screw. There is a motor which includes a stator and a rotor. The rotor has an inner bore which engages the annular rollers. Rotation of the rotor causes the central screw to translate axially relative to the rotor and the output shaft to reciprocate relative to the housing.
Abstract:
System (10) for the propulsion of boats carrying one or two marine internal combustion engines (11) and tumbler gears comprising an auxiliary engine (30) kinematically connected to the propeller shaft (12) connected to the shaft of one or of the two main engines (11) so that propulsion can be maintained both in the case of failure of one main engine (11) or of the tumbler gears, as well as in the case of fishing with a trawl-line when the boat must proceed at low speed.
Abstract:
A watercraft comprising a battery ballast system is shown and described. The battery ballast system comprises a plurality of carriage assemblies, each comprising a plurality of tiers along the watercraft's height axis, and each being movable along the watercraft's length axis. The batteries sit on movable supports that are movable along the watercraft's width axis. Each tier is loaded to less than 50 percent with batteries and battery supports so that the batteries in each tier can be moved along the ship's width axis relative to the hull in a manner that will affect the ship's list. The carriage assemblies occupy a portion of the length along which they are movable so that they can be moved along the ship's length axis relative to the hull to affect the ship's trim.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Propulsion unit (11) for propulsion and maneuvering of a maritime vessel, which includes a nozzle (12) wherein a propeller section (13, 13a) is arranged, which propeller section (13, 13a) is electrically or hyd rau lically driven, which propulsion unit (11) includes a fastening device (16) arranged for arrangement to hull of the vessel or to a steering device arranged for steering and/or moving the propulsion unit (11). The fastening device (16) is formed by two stems (17a-b) extending in parallel or laterally reversed about an vertical central axis from an upper surface of the nozzle (12) of the propulsion unit, which stems (17a-b) end in a fixing flange (18) for thereby providing an opening (19) which provides the propulsion unit (11) with improved hydrodynamic performance.
