Abstract: Offenbart ist ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Heizvorrichtung, insbesondere einer Warmwasserheizung, in einem Regenerierungsbetrieb oder in einem regulären Betrieb zum Bereitstellen von Warmwasser, wobei kaltes Wasser durch mindestens einen Ionenaustauschfilter gefiltert wird, wobei das gefilterte Wasser in einen durch einen Verbrennungsprozess erwärmten Wärmetauscher der Heizvorrichtung geleitet und erwärmt wird, wobei das erwärmte Wasser aus der Heizungsvorrichtung geleitet wird, wobei ein während des Verbrennungsprozesses entstehendes Kondensat in einem Sammelbehälter aufgefangen und zum Regenerieren des Ionenaustauschfilters während des Regenerierungsbetriebs durch den Ionenaustauschfilter geleitet wird. Des Weiteren ist eine Heizvorrichtung offenbart.

Abstract: Systems for treating water are disclosed. The system includes an ozonation subsystem including a source of ozone configured to dissolve ozone into water from a source of water to produce ozonated water. The system further includes an electrochemical cell co-located with the ozonation subsystem having an inlet connectable to a source of electrolyte and an outlet. The electrochemical cell is configured to produce hydrogen peroxide from electrolyte from the source of electrolyte. The system additionally includes a mixing zone configured to receive the ozonated water, to receive the hydrogen peroxide from the outlet of the electrochemical cell, and to mix the ozonated water and hydrogen peroxide to form peroxone. Systems and methods of treating water, such as by selectively removing one or more emergent compounds from contaminated water, using the system are also disclosed.

The system can also include a first vessel into which the multi-material fluid is disposed. The system can further include a first sonication device disposed, at least in part, in the multi-material fluid in the first vessel. The first sonication device, when operating, can emit ultrasound waves into the multi-material fluid. The ultrasound waves separate the first material and the second material from each other in the first vessel.

Abstract: Methods are described for monitoring biofouling in a closed water system. For example, a method includes adding nitrate to water circulating in the closed water system, and detecting whether nitrite is present in the water after adding the nitrate. Another method includes introducing chlorite into water circulating in the closed water system, the detecting the amount of chlorite present in the water; and at least one of (i) comparing the detected amount of chlorite to an expected amount of chlorite; and (ii) observing whether the amount of chlorite in the water decreases over time.

Abstract: A drinking water disinfection system (200) includes a contact tank (202). Drinking water enters the contact tank (202) at water inlet (204) and exits the contact tank (202) at drinking water outlet (222). A circuitous water path from the water inlet (204) to the water outlet (222) is defined by partitions (218). The system (200) further includes an entry sensor system (214), a controller (216) and an exit sensor system (220). The entry sensor system (214) includes one or more sensors for sensing values indicative of a concentration of the disinfecting agent in the water. The controller (216) is operative to receive output signals from the sensor system (214) and to process such signals to assist in controlling the amount of disinfecting agent added to the water at the disinfectant inlet (208).
