Foamed asphalt compositions, recycled asphalt compositions, asphalt pavement, and methods of forming asphalt pavement using the foamed asphalt compositions are provided herein. An exemplary foamed asphalt composition is in a cellular matrix form and includes a base asphalt component and oxidized high density polyethylene. An exemplary asphalt pavement includes a recycled asphalt layer that includes the foamed asphalt composition and a recycled asphalt component. An exemplary method of forming asphalt pavement includes combining a base asphalt component and an oxidized high density polyethylene to form an asphalt mixture. The asphalt mixture is foamed using water and compressed air to form a foamed asphalt composition. The foamed asphalt composition and a recycled asphalt component are combined to form a recycled asphalt composition. A recycled asphalt layer is formed with the recycled asphalt composition.

Disclosed is the preparation of compositions which are mixtures of certain types of epoxidized rigid copolymers of α-olefins and diene-derived co-monomers in combination with elastomeric diene-based polymers or copolymers. These two types of rigid and elastomeric polymeric materials are placed in a common liquid reaction medium and contacted therein with an oxidizing agent. The oxidizing agent, which can be a peroxide or peracid, epoxidizes in-situ at least a portion of the residual double bonds of the rigid copolymer and preferably also introduces hydroxyl groups, e.g., diol moieties, (or derivatives thereof such as ester groups) onto the unsaturated moieties of the elastomeric diene-based polymers or copolymers. This combination of materials which has been oxidized in-situ can then be co-precipitated to form a polymeric mixture which can be melt-molded into polyolefin materials of improved structural, thermal and mechanical properties with desirable impact resistance.

The present invention relates to a multilayer tube comprising, in its radial direction from the outside inwards: a polyamide outer layer (1); an inner layer (2) of a composition comprising, the total being 100%, 5 to 30% by weight of a blend (A) comprising: a polyethylene carrying epoxy functional groups, an impact modifier chosen from elastomers and very low density polyethylenes, the said impact modifier being completely or partly functionalized; 95 to 70% by weight of a blend (B) comprising: a fluoropolymer (B1), a functionalized fluoropolymer (B2), the proportion of (B2) being between 1 and 80% by weight of (A)+(B), the layers being successive and adhering to one another in their respective contact region. The inner layer is the layer in contact with the fluid being transported. According to one advantageous embodiment, a layer of functionalized polyolefin having functional groups capable of reacting with the functional groups of the fluoropolymer (B2) is placed between the layer (2) and the layer (3). The tube of the present invention has a very low permeability to the cooling liquid and to its additives (boric acid and its salts). These tubes also exhibit good resistance to fuels and to engine lubrication oils. This tube exhibits very good mechanical properties at low temperature and at high temperature. These tubes may be smooth or corrugated. The invention also relates to the use of these tubes for transporting cooling liquids.

A resin molded article having a reduced dielectric loss tangent is provided. This resin molded article is obtained by performing a heat treatment to a resin composition comprising a liquid-crystalline polyester and an epoxy-group containing ethylene copolymer at a temperature lower than a flow-beginning temperature of the liquid-crystalline polyester, preferably at a temperature between a lower limit temperature calculated by subtracting 120°C from the flow-beginning temperature and an upper limit temperature calculated by subtracting 20°C from the flow-beginning temperature. This resin molded article has a smaller dielectric loss tangent than the resin molded article obtained from the resin composition without the heat treatment.

Low temperature sealable metallized packaging films are found to have reduced blocking tendencies when an oxidized polyethylene wax is blended into a low temperature sealing composition including an ethylene-carboxylic acid copolymer. The films are useful for high-speed packaging applications requiring sealability at low temperatures. The films exhibit low blocking performance during unwinding of the film while maintaining positive low temperature sealability characteristics.

Also provided are methods to improve the paint adhesion of articles wherein the articles have been subjected to a temperature of at least about 330 DEG F for period of at least about 10 minutes. In a preferred embodiment, the antioxidant, also known as a stabilizer, or mixture of stabilizers is selected from the group consisting of the phenolic antioxidants, the 3-arylbenzofuranones, the hindered amine stabilizers, the ultraviolet light absorbers, the alkaline metal salts of fatty acids, the hydrotalcites, the epoxydized soybean oils, the haydoxylamines, the tertiary amine oxides, thermal reaction products of tertiary amine oxides, the thiosynergists, and mixture containing at least one of the foregoing.
