Abstract:
A coating/sealant system that includes a coating and a sealant deposited over at least a portion of the coating, in which the coating includes a reaction product formed from reactants comprising a phosphated epoxy resin and a curing agent, and the sealant includes a sulfur-containing polymer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition that can be used as a coating and that can protect a substrate coated with this composition from high heat. The composition comprises: a polysulfide, an epoxy resin, a compound selected from compounds having a secondary and/or a tertiary amine group, and compounds having an amide group, a polysiloxane, and fibres.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a material for producing coatings and adhesives based on polymers comprising thioether structural units and a method for producing said compounds. According to the invention, structural variation of said original components and/or their molar ratio and variation of photo-hardening parameters or thermal hardening parameters allows mechanical characteristics of the polymers to be varied from hard to soft-flexible. Said polymers can therefore be used in many ways for transparent, protective and decorative coatings on glass, plastics and metals and also used for adhesives. Said polymers are produced according to the invention by (1) reacting an olefinic component, (2) a thiol component and (3) a thiol functionalized prepolymer in a photochemical or a thermal reaction. Said thio functionalized prepolymer is produced in a preceding reaction step by reacting dithiols with diisocyanates in the presence of a basic catalyst.
Abstract:
A compatibilized composition, comprising: a polyimide; and a compatibilized polyarylene sulfide composition comprising a melt blended combination of an epoxy novolac resin and a polyarylene sulfide, wherein the compatibilized composition does not comprise a polyphenylene sulfone.
Abstract:
The embodiments provided herein are directed to methods and systems for generating a customized functionalized substrate. In particular, the embodiments provided herein generate a customized functionalized substrate that can be used for a variety of applications and a variety of chemical and other reactions, processes and methodologies, by modifying a disulfide bond-containing feedstock through the introduction of a disulfide bond breaking material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composite shaped part containing at least one polyarylene sulfide and at least one single or multi-constituent silicon rubber. The invention also relates to a method for producing a composite shaped part, whereby the shaping-on is carried out in a single-stage process. Finally, the invention relates to the use of a composite shaped part as a case, such as a pump case or as resonators.
Abstract:
Polysulfide corrosion inhibiting compositions used as adhesives and sealants for aircraft and military shelter industries are described as two-part compositions including a curing agent in the second part and a particular corrosion-inhibiting composition milled into the polysulfide in the first part where the corrosion inhibitors include a combination of a phosphosilicate with a mixture of alkali metal molybdate, ammonium benzoate, alkali metal nitrite, and benzotriazole.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a heat-resistant coating composition comprising a one or more epoxy resins and one or more polysulfide curing agents, which also comprises one or more spumifics, one or more carbonifics and one or more sources of phosphoric acid; wherein the mole ratio of thiol groups in the polysulfide(s) to epoxy groups in the epoxy resin(s) is in the range of from 0.20 to 0.50; and wherein the weight ratio of carbonific(s) to spumific(s) is no more than 0.48 or the weight ratio of carbonific(s) to source(s) of phosphoric acid is no more than 0.38, or both.
